Legit Job? Bankers Life and Casualty

So, I'm on my summer job hunt and threw up a resume on Monster.com in between going to every store within 55 miles of my location. Within a day or so, I got an email (seemed automated) from Bankers Life and Casualty. It gave me a link, allowed me to schedule and interview.

I was pretty optimistic until I googled them and found out a lot of people are calling them a scam or talking about shady business practices (you sign a contract that allows them to credit and debt your bank account D: Is that normal?).

Anyone have any experience with this company? Should I bother going to the interview?

You basically become an independent agent, and can only sell the services they offer, unlike regular independent agents who can sell services for multiple companies. They're not a scam, but they are shady.

Basically, you either become Ricky Roma, and bullshit clients into buying things they don't need, or you become Shelley Levene, and wither up.

That's what these things boil down to for most people.

I'd stay away from full commission jobs in general unless you can ride out working for awhile before seeing any decent money.

Also, recruitment via spam is a big red flag. Stay away.

While this place looks like it sucks, the deposit/withdrawl thing is pretty standard for auto-deposit type things. Basically, if they accidentally make two deposits or something, it gives them permission to take back the cash they gave you on accident. Every auto-deposit form I've filled out is like that.

I've received that same email before (about 2 years ago) and it's basically what people have been saying. You become an agent and work on commission having to push crappy life/casualty insurance on old people who don't have much money to begin with or are on a fixed income but hope to be able to leave something to their kids/grandkids when they die.
I've not done it but I can't imagine ever feeling good about coercing money out of old people and selling them things they don't need or aren't a good deal just so you can meet your quota and get paid.

I haven't signed one like that yet.
