so, it sounds like the Ambassador is now a straight up superior choice to the revolver? I never saw people quaking with fear about the spy's old gun...

man i hope they get trading in soon.

I need the cloak and dagger and the razorback, and I have at least doubles of all the other new weapons.

Its new and therefore scary. A headshot and a bodyshot will take down a medic, but...three bodyshots with the old gun will do the same, with less aim required.

    Did somebody say... Jarate?
It's a Jarate bomb cart. Now you've got even *more* incentive to defend! Do you really want your base covered in Jarate?

Yes, but you can also deal a fuckton of damage, forcing someone to double back for HPs or to waste more time running around for health packs.

    It's an excellent harassment weapon.

he's done this to me several times, and I doubt that any other spy is dumb enough to get onto dispensers and just sit there like I do

Anyway, the Ambassador is the unlock for pistol spies. It is a plan A, but that's ok because if you are focussing on sniping people in the brain then you are not focussing on backstabbing them.

However I still hate being sniped by it. Still haven't unlocked it ]:

One thing about the Ambassador though, is that it renders the Razorback utterly pointless. Except I guess for when you running in a large group with it equipped just to keep a spy from chain backstabbing you all. Head shot to body shot on a zoomed in sniper is very easy to do. The Razorback negates on item only to be totally trumped by another.

Of course I think this speaks more of the uselessness of the Razorback than anything else.

As someone who likes to fire off a few flare gun shots when running around, I cannot tell you how many times I've wtf'd when my flare gun shot suddenly sets a cloaked spy on fire. I can't imagine how pissed those people are.

I feel it's because a spy is usually terminated with extreme prejudice upon discovery. The knife does less damage than other melee weapons if not a backstab, and the revolver is usually a last resort. Also, spies have to be vulnerable to be effective. Either they have to disguise and try not to get bumped by the other team, or have to rely upon some type of cloak.

It's just something I've noticed, playing sniper, I rarely have the same kind of vitriol directed against me that I experience when I play spy.

Edit: in other news, STILL not getting the ambassador is fucking fail. I wish I could select what career my unlock was for, I'd eve put up with longer intervals between unlocks for that feature. Trading can't come soon enough.

Stop aiming for people and aim at where people usually come from. You'll be surprised how often people round corners into headshots.

Finally gotthe complete set, minus the hats. Got exactly three of every old unlock, two of every sniper unlock, and exactly one of every spy unlock—the ones I was dying for. Weird.

I'm pondering the various uses of disguising as someone on your own team. Besides the obvious role of pretending to be an engineer or sniper just to annoy the enemies, is it the kind of thing that you'd want to have out while running to the front lines, so that enemies won't perceive you as a spy and track you?

Its a use for the Dead Ringer, since you drop a body of a teammate, not a spy.

I'd ultimately attempt to get behind their lines cloaked the entire time. Then, when you finally get there... yeah, choose the typical weapons. Sniper/Huntsman, Wrench, Healgun, Bat... basically the default stuff. Even acting like a typical team member doesn't usually help when there are pyro's around. I'd just try and stay away from them in general and hope they don't explode into an orgasm of flames and false self-appreciation for spotting you.

    The Ambassador

    Okay, your turn gentlemen.

Sev: Your gameplay is the most heavily yomi based around. Usually you look for characters that allow you to force guessing situations for big dmg. Even if the guess is mathematically nowhere near in your favor lol. You're happiest when you have either a 50/50, 33/33/33 or even a 75/25 situation to go crazy with. And you will take big risks to force those situations to come up.

I want the Dead Ringer pretty badly, but I am happy with the Cloak and Dagger and Huntsman for now. But jesus christ I would have thought I'd have it by now after idling/playing for over 125 hours.

As a heads-up, for those who still don't read the blog...

The final version of PL_waste is finally out, and up and running.

Download link. Recommend getting it ahead of time, since it comes with a intro movie as well that won't auto-download.

It's been running for a while, but the final version of Freight's out too, and you should all bug Job to update. :3

Also tossed up the latest version of PL_Borax for a trial.

I've found that disguising as a friendly Medic is an excellent way to draw fire.
