Hi,

I'm looking for a laptop used pretty much exclusively for music production and live music editing on a budget of around £500. I have been told that Vaios are good but can't seem to see any for less than £1,000 ish.
The other pre-requisite is that it has to be non-mac, definitely has to be a PC based laptop.

Thanks in advance

most of the up-market music editing/ recording software is for mac. Like cubase and logic. They may make them for PC now they have been out for a while though. Audacity is a decent free software for PC that can record and has simple filters when you get to it.

You will need something with a decent processor to be able to edit larger amounts of music. If you just plan on hitting record and doing your thing you might get away with a cheaper laptop. but a laptop will generally struggle in what you want to achieve depending how many tracks you will have.

Take note- you can get a really good mac mini for 500 pounds and a screen for maybe another 100 more or less.
