For this LP i'm going to assume most of you have already played Half Life 2, and so i'll be talking about the small little details in the game, some of the old beta concepts and what not.
So I heard this is a duo LP now?
That is correct, in order to revive the LP, me and Nappuccino will be playing through the game at the same time, Napp's LP will be more comedy, where as mine will be more informative.
Good stuff, speak a bit louder and a bit clearer, nothing wrong with your voice at all but sometimes its a little hard to hear the commentary, otherwise keep it up!

Looks good Jaramr, a little quite but I can still make everything out.
I can't wait to see the next volumes of the LP. I'd also like to see longer clips (which mostly says how much I'm liking what you have so far.)
I can't see the video. I'm behind a proxy. Somebody describe every detail for me. Also, if you could draw some doodles to illustrate the action, scan them and post them, that'd also be appreciated.

Basically he walks around during the opening scenes and all you can hear is the clicks of his keyboard. :P

Damn you, I was going to LP this once I got a better video card, a better video recording program, and a decent video editing program! Which was going to take years anyway, so I'm not really serious. Anyway, I digress. I just played this game for the first time last month, and my only knowledge of the series at the time was Full Life Consequences. Quite a treat to discover such a quality series that I'd skipped over for so long and I look forward to your treatment of the material.
Yeah, it took like 5 go's to actually get the audio to the point where you can hear the game and me. But I will try to improve the audio, hopefully I can find someway to remove the sound of my typewriter keyboard.

one way would be to get a "silent" keyboard... they're still rather loud though.
Not to steal any thunder away, but I highly recommend the commentary videos by this guy GammyGoose: http://www.youtube.com/user/GammyGoose
The Ep1 commentary is only on Google Video, I believe, not Youtube.

Goose's commentary is good, but I think he had a different purpose in mind when he did his.
Minor bump, but this thread got me in the mood for some Half-Life 2. And whilst we're waiting for the next update...
Is it just me or does the anti-aliasing setting do absolutely nothing in this game? I've tried setting the AA settings in-game and using the ATI settings and still the same thing. Jaggies a plenty.

that bothers me as well... but I'm pretty sure ep1 doesn't have those problems.
I'm hoping that the (hopefully eventual) graphics update to hl2 fixes that problem.

Ive noticed that 6x MSAA does nothing at all.
4x and 2x seem to be fine though.

Wha...?
The console port saw some graphics updates and added acheivemtents. Valve (some time ago) said they were working on making these improvements available to the PC crowd.
Half Life 2 is one of my favorite games of all time, it's one of the reasons I'm such a huge Valve fanboy. I can't wait for Ep. 3 to come out, I wish Valve would give us fuckin' something, ya know?

Also, I know you aren't there yet, but I hate, hate hate manhacks.
I have a fairly good system, but it absolutely hates the shit outta Half-Life 2. I can play Bioshock, Portal, and even Episode 1 on high settings, but Half-Life 2 won't run on low settings. This is especially obvious when physics kick in. Even throwing the damn Chinese take out box at people causes it to slow down.

Hmm yeah, setting it to 4x makes it work fine. Pretty odd that.

I actually enjoyed that a lot more than I thought I would (having played the game like five times), keep it up! The audio needs some work though, and I strongly suggest using Youtube, as the HD function would preserve the quality of the video a lot better than Viddler.
Many games need to have AA OFF on the catalyst panel, so that in-game AA can work. I think Source isn't one of those engines, though. FO3, Crysis, ETW are all in that category.
This is now a duo LP, me and Napp will be playing up to the same point ingame, and we hope to bring two diffirent styles of LP to Penny Arcade, his video will be posted sometime today.

So.. power just went off in the middle of my upload.
I've stared the upload again and Youtube estimates 1 hour and 40 min for the first video. Sadly, I won't be back until late tonight so the actual update is likely to come around 11pm est time.

Also, get me in on dis.

Audio is very hard to get right. At least you can hear everything and understand what is being said.

I did enjoy his commentary but I can't wait to see Jaramrs take on things and the depth/detail he'll go into.
A bit shorter than I intended, sorry about that.

There's a little bit if info about it here http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=785102 (4th post with the emails)
I want to see you destroy them.
Is there any way to add a new commentary track to the game? That'd be pretty cool.
Halp.

16x is one of the texture filtering modes, not the anti-aliasing.

That's for Ep2 etc, not Half-Life 2. Half-Life 2 uses an older source engine that can't do 16x.

my hl2 won't start now though so i can't check
Gravity gun makes them a cinch.
Yes, but no gravity gun when you first encounter them. And on the harder difficulty 4 manhacks and a couple combine can be killer.
Also, Hl2 only have upto 6x AA (which doesn't work, but like Jaramr said, 4x works just dandy)
