[IC] Star Wars: Tales of the Old Republic
Posts
The hallway opened up into what appeared to be a clandestine hangar, secluded and out of the way in the large Rwookrrorro spaceport. Occupying the hangar was a model of ship he had never seen before; no doubt custom. The ramp leading up into the ship was down and there was a light shining out from inside.
After a moment, the black robed figure stepped down, its hand motioning towards one of the crates, then stopping abruptly as it apparently noticed the Jedi, his lightsaber blazing and his determination burning brightly in the Force.
The figure stood there wordlessly, its face obscured by the hood of its cloak, gauging the Kel Dor.
"I can feel your hatred," she said huskily, her blade angled downward in an odd guard position as they began to circle each other.
Init, 1d20+13=27
Nia'la'an is going to go first, then Fen. She's going to move towards him and spend her standard to try and feint.
Deception (1d20+12=18)
Deception re-roll (1d20+12=14) Nia must keep the 14.
Init (1d20+13=22) Fen's initiative beats the deception and he suffers no ill effects. It's Fen's turn. If you need a map I'll work one up
The Twi'lek woman spun her lightsaber in a flourish as she once again fixed the Kel Dor with a smirk. "Have you found a new master yet, Fen Raan? Perhaps I'll kill this one too. I'm sure my master would be most pleased..."
"You can't beat me, Jedi! You have hate, you have anger! But you don't use them!"
which is going to be now because she's going to spend a Destiny Point to once again put herself at the top of the order.
Battle Strike (1d20+11=20), giving her +1 and +2d6 damage, which she's going to Force Point (new round) up to 4d6.
Lightsaber (1d20+13=33, 2d8+4d6+6=33)
fen opts to DP that shit away. who wouldn't? she's going to spend a swift to finish her recover action and then use second wind for 25 + Force Focus (3d6=8), 33 total HP recovered.
Fen Raan - 49/71, -1 condition
Nia'la'an - 66/77
The Twi'lek put her lightsaber on her belt and thrust her hand out in a claw-motion and Fen Raan felt the vice-grip of the Force latch onto his neck. Red and yellow spots began to explode in his vision as the borders of it began to go fuzzy and dark.
Grip! (6d6=25) and he gets the shit choked out of him, going another step down the condition track.
Fen Raan - 24/71, -2 condition
Nia'la'an - 41/77, -1 condition
And with that she tightened her grip further. Fen felt himself slipping into unconsciousness.
Grip! (1d20+11=31)
Fen continues to get the shit choked out of him and Nia regains all of her Force Powers.
Grip! (6d6=22)
Fen Raan - 2/71, -5 condition
Nia'la'an - 41/77, -1 condition
Nia'la'an's yellow eyes looked thoughtful as she choked the last bit of life out of the padawan. With that, she abruptly jerked her arm to the left, slamming Fen Raan into the wall. His world went black.
Walking over to his helpless form she knelt next to him. "Seek me out, young one. I can teach you more than your master ever could. Think of this as a test," she said, giving him a kiss on the cheek before placing his lightsaber on her belt. She stood up and pulled up her hood, flicking a black gloved hand.
His breath mask popped off and she crushed it under her boot before returning to the ship.
As the ship left the hangar, Eri entered, seeing her padawan slowly suffocating to death in the oxygen atmosphere.
Nia's going to opt to just deal the weakest move object damage, which is 2d6. she rolls atleast 2 damage, dropping Fen unconscious.
and then she's going to be a douche and not only take his weapon but take off his breath mask. suffocatin' time!
She rushed into the hangar and crouched down at Fen's side, catching sight of his crushed mask. She checked his vitals - he was alive enough, although it was fairly obvious he was suffocating. She nabbed his smashed breath mask and jury rigged it for the moment ... it wouldn't last, but it'd tide him over until they reached safety.
Then she lifted his body, which was less effort for her than it maybe should have been, and dashed toward a nearby speeder, knocked the driver away in a totally criminal gesture, and set off into Kashyyyk, en route to a hospital she'd spotted earlier, while her ship had landed.
Fen opened his eyes, his neck aching from where it had been squeezed. Where was he? Medical droids were tending him... and standing over him was his master with a mixture of worry and disapproval shining in her eyes.
"M-master..." his voice was even more sore than he thought.
"You're alright," she said, relieved. "Good."
When he was back on his feet, she met him in the hallway. "What you did was incredibly reckless," she said, "But Nen Var is missing and we're here to get him back, so we haven't the time to examine why this was an incredibly bad idea. We'll find you a blaster in the meantime, but we've not got time to waste replacing that weapon."
"Oh, masters! It's good to have found you intact. After your abrupt departures, I was worried you were in danger so I fetched your droid companion from the ship. I hope I haven't overstepped my bounds," the protocol droid said, accompanied by a long whistle from the astro droid.
"No, I don't think they want to hear about what you were doing alone on the ship," D1 said testily.
"Keep Fen out of trouble, Tree," she said, and looked to the padawan for a moment. "Don't be long," she said, and made her way from the hospital, back out into the wookiee city. She looked over the datapad the wookiees had offered her, and considered speaking to someone to see if they could give her the location of the ship she'd seen leaving that hangar.
She went back to her ship, the Zellian Sunrise, to wait for Fen Raan to finish his shopping trip. Another hit to her bank account, she was sure. She drifted around a bit inside the transport ship, and eventually made her way to the pilot's seat, pulling up Fen Raan's comm. "I'm waiting at the Sunrise," she told him. "Don't take your time."
And right when he was wrapping it up, Tree suddenly started beeping loudly. "What is it Tree? Oh, Master Eri?" Several very large, very angry looking individuals began to glare at him, "I see. Tell her we're on our way back." he sighed "It's a pity we weren't able to find lightsaber parts, though I suppose it's to be expected on this kind of a planet..."
He looked at the clip on his belt where his lightsaber used to rest. "I will be taking it back from her."
And already there was a name to connect with the mysterious stranger who attacked Fen - Czerka.
He got on board with the droids and wandered over to Eri, reading over her shoulder. "Czerka Corp? What do they have to do with anything?"
With Fen Raan on the ship, she began pulling up maps and nav charts, to find her way to the Czerka's corporate building on Kashyyyk.
ensure that they wouldn't try to close the gap.
Leaving one alive, the two Jedi cleverly chose let him run back to those who hired him. They tailed him all the way back to a Czerka space station in orbit of one of Kashyyyk's moons.
Czerka Corp employees denied any involvement until they realized that they were quite literally dealing with the buisness end of Eri's lightsaber - at which point they decided their lives were worth more than covering up their lie. They fessed up to not only sending the slavers after the two, but also to abducting the missing offworlders.
When pressed further, they admitted they had been planning on getting rid of the snooping Nen Var, but that he disappeared before they had ever gotten a chance. Eri decided that this was a big enough lead, and decided to go report to the Council immediately. She ordered that Fen and the droids stay behind to keep an eye on the Czerka employees, to ensure they didn't go anywhere until she came back with the authorities.
As Fen watched her depart for the planet's surface, he noticed something odd. First the engines flickered out, and then one of the hatches started to leak atmosphere. Before he could issue an order, The Zellian Sunset was torn from the inside out by a violent explosion. Fen cried out, losing himself in a whirl of emotions as he helplessly pounded his fist against the viewport.
He initially blamed and very nearly killed the Czerka Corp employees, who immediately claimed innocence, claiming to have no idea of what happened. Fen Raan sunk into a stunned depression.
He was soon brought back to the Jedi Academy, who debriefed and counseled him, ultimately helping Fen back into a degree of peace and normality. He was given a new lightsaber, and the council ordered that both he and Zarcos Skipray would reopen the case.
"Of course I am! Zarcos Skipray. You may recognize me from my Holocast: The Zarcos Skipray Minute Featuring Zarcos Skipray."
"Well, I --"
"Yes, you do. Now you see, Fan --"
"It's Fen."
"-- I know exactly what you're thinking. You think it's all some cruel joke, that the Jedi way is all bupkis and that the cold blackness of everlasting night between the stars is all that truly exists. Can you feel it, Fan? Can you feel the cold?"
"I don't think --"
"Of course you don't! That's why you've got to stick with me: Zarcos Skipray, Jedi Knight. The council has assigned me to crack this nut and send you back on the straight and narrow. Because you're thinking oh but Zarcos, I won't go to the Dark Side! Do you just think you can use the Dark Side even just once and get away with it? Do you?"
"No, I --"
"It doesn't work that way, Fan! You've got to just say no to Evil. Now, I've heard of fear, and as a successful Jedi Knight, I have stemmed the tide of villainy that rides it all the way to hate and anger. And I'm here to tell you that once your robes go black they never go back. Do you understand?"
Fen thought about it for a moment.
"No."
"Ha ha! That's okay, Fan. You just stick close to ol' Zarcos and everything will be fine."
The small room that served as the Alaris Prime council chamber was silent as Fen Raan kneeled in front of the three Jedi Masters. Zarcos Skipray leaned against the wall by the door, surprisingly quiet. Even the Corellian knew what a solemn event it was.
Master Linth spoke quietly. "This is a serious matter, Fen Raan. We understand... I understand... how difficult your training has been. However... the Dark Side seems to have its eyes set on you, Fen Raan."
She paused, and Master Tureedo interjected. "Our initial impression is that to complete your training and promote you to the rank of Jedi Knight would be a mistake. The shroud of the Dark Side surrounds your future. What say you, apprentice?"
I can set aside my emotions, my mind is open, I prevent myself from striking out in anger, I can see that the universe is a cycle of balance, and I do not fear death.
Please, allow me the opportunity to prove it. Allow me the Trials."
