[ARMA2]Everybody redcon 1, SP in 15 mikes! (Operation Arrowhead out now!)
Yeah all vehicles in the military are diesel (as far as I know). They start up like regular diesels normally, except they don't have keys, and you have to turn on one or more batteries to start the engine. The bigger the vehicle the more complex it is usually. During my brief stint as a Stryker driver I had to be capable of flipping over a dozen switches when needed (without looking) while driving through periscopes. It wasn't easy.
All of the vehicles I know of run on JP8, apparently that was the big plan to use one type of fuel for everything. I remember being thrown in as a bradley driver when one of the drivers went on leave. Getting ready to roll out the wire is not the time to learn how to just turn the damn thing on, it's only like 4 or 5 switches but so needlesly silly.
First time I drove the Stryker I partially disengaged the T-Case while driving by accident.
I also had numerous close calls while driving south on I-5 in Washington state. I'm sure my vehicle came within inches of hitting several POV's.
Lol, I was fired after a few days by my PS. I'm pretty sure my DD-214 states I'm never allowed near anything bigger than my car. It was totally worth it to see what an m2a3 does to a semi.

Hah, I remember seeing a couple of fuelers (I do not know the MOS) sitting around their fueling station in our motor pool. One had a cigar in his mouth, the other two had cigarettes and all around them were drums of fuel and "No Smoking" signs.

Fuelers doing their job or even near the fuel point? Now I know you are full of lies, next you're gonna tell me about cooks actually cooking the food.
Best thing about being a Stryker driver was going 80mph in NTC, hitting huge berms and getting all 8 wheels of the ground plus 3-4m of air. Of course you run the chance of the engine shutting off and it being impossible to start back up for 15 min.
Fun for the driver, painful for those in the back. :winky:
It doesn't have to be srs bidness 24/7 but The Longest Day requires cooperation from the pilots. When people want to screw around change the game type.
Today's Failure of Large proportions is brought to you by Paul.
So i'm flying the osprey, talking about how good I am with it Etc. etc.
I just take off, and nose down to gain speed. Then the power goes out. it was out for about 2 hours, just came back on. But the timing could NOT have been worse. at least not for the 5 people in the back.

So my first time playing ARMA II just consisted entirely of having clue what to do, jumping into a truck, said truck exploded violently and then I spent the next hour or so as a bird, stuck as a bird even when everybody else respawned and got to try again or something.
I... what? Maybe serious business isn't the best way for a total newbie to step in, because I was horribly, horribly lost. Not to mention the default key for Ventrilo push-to-talk also seems to make me do things ingame, and I couldn't find a decent vacant key to bind it to.
I have no fucking clue what you guys were talking about earlier. 180 Degrees on a compass is South for everyone, degrees on a compass don't change from person to person.
Been playing MP all day (love that coop, even if it is a bit buggy/laggy). Good times.
Steam ID is Operator C
Also: (might as well also ask it here), if anyone can invite me to the P.A. JOE group on Steam that'd be great. Thanks. Otherwise, will wait till Sonar is online.

co-op is god damn buggy and laggy and the framerate sucks, but its awesome. i cant imagine how much better it be once performance all around is optimized.
I was...a medic! I have magic hands that give magic massages.
Good times. and I enjoy that I got to see what killed me. Although how we all missed that MG nest is beyond me, since we were hyper focused in its general area because of all of those guys running around by the red shack.

We're not talking about compass direction, we were talking about bearing to target. Depending on positioning, bearing for one team isn't always the same.

but your relation to the contact can change. If something is 180 to you, and i'm 150 meters east, it's not 180 to me.

This.
We were talking about spotting contacts, not directions.

Heh, enough OT for me.

jdarksun, are you here? does anyone else have admin to the new server?
anyone can have admin if they #vote admin playernumber
we played the mission, got bored, and I guess no one really took the motivation to change missions.
Does it really even matter which one I play on first, even if I'm a hopelessly clueless newbie?

Whoever said the VSS sucks, you're doing it wrong think of it as throwing those little crappy rounds.
I guess I should add the target is below the lowest tick mark, and thats exactly where I aimed to hit him.

That curvy thing on the side is calibrated for a 170cm tall man. Fit the target between the bottom line and the curve to determine range.
Let me see if I can dig up some clearer info on reading PSO scopes.
Vintorez PSO Scope
The Chevrons are likely calibrated for the numbers on the rangefinder, so 200m, 400m and 600m.
