wasn't the new movie kind of inspired by a couple star trek novels
no?
not so far as i know
there were prequel comics that led up to the movie's story, but those were written specifically to promote the movie
in fact
william shatner wanted to be in the movie as part of spock's time travelly adventure
but they were like "but kirk dies in Generations"
and kirk is like "but no! i wrote novels where Kirk survives because of the Nexus and he's back now!"
they were like "bill, we don't really think about the novels, nobody cares about them, it would just confuse people"
no, I think there were a few books about kirk's early life that they specifically mentioned in interviews as helping them work out the story of the movie

I prefer Star Trek canon because it's less convoluted and equally interesting given the amount of episodes/series in the franchise
there were aliens from the animated series in the new movie
do they actually
because god jesus I hated that character
Every time I go to wookiepedia or memory alpha I lose like six hours of my life at no ostensible gain
yeah, i noticed that
also during Enterprise they took some locations and stuff on Vulcan from the animated series
so it appears the official attitude is "the animated series is non-canon.... except the parts we say are canon. when we say so"
which is fair, i guess

totally optional if a writer wants to technobabble an excuse later

Honest to god I thought someone was trying to mock me last time he was mentioned
They told me he was created because someone made a protracted bullshit excuse to cover up their typo
wrong
This is based on watching an episode or two of the two Star Treks or whatever

hey i agree with you about something
are we best friends now or what
you shoot your mouth off on subjects you know dick all about pretty regularly
you just tend to be less belligerent about it
and when it's pointed out to you that you don't know what you are talking about, you don't scream "FUCK YOU I DON'T CARE YOU CUNT"
so
that's good, at least
but man
you often are like "hey guys, i have a completely unfounded opinion based on nothing, isn't that cool?"
makes me frown
i can't help it, we just rarely talk about pokemon anymore
hey, that's fair dude
i am just teasing you
i prefer that you just sorta spout off what you think on a subject, even if it might not be the most learned viewpoint
that's much better than trying to pretend you believe in things so you can be a devil's advocate
gonna have sex with some barmaids
get some cards of them naked
i will always look up to him as the person that started a revolution
