we had a guy take a Cursed Vision off our first Illidan kill then ninja server transfer, taking a bunch of shit from the gbank as he did so.
Came onto our vent and without a trace of uncertainty, proclaimed he'd been hacked. We all assumed it was true, we had no reason to doubt him, then someone anonymously posted a link to WoW Detective on our forums of an application he'd made to another guild.
I'd love to live in a world where you could actually get decent PvP weapons without doing goddamn arenas. I like doing BGs, but hate arenas....yet I can't get any weapons with honor points alone.

Dohohohohohohoho.
Oh you!
Seriously, though, doing naxx for weapons is easier than getting arena weapons was even in s1 and 2 when you didn't need rating.

I believe it will lower your exp, not 100% sure though. My reasoning is that I'm sure they made killing mobs when you're out of party reduce exp (from the RFC quick levelling method that was popular in TBC) so I don't see why they'd skip over adding healing to it too.
Them damaging the mobs would detract XP, them healing you out of party doesn't do anything.
On a side note it's not generally considered a valuble way to XP anymore because of the xp/hour that can be gotten by questing. Now if you doing it for another reason (such as farming for a Faction mob or something) then it's not so bad.
You guys must have missed the note saying that you'll need 15% more resilience to get what you have now.
it's still vastly better than what it is currently, they made the curve 15% steeper but it's still going from a crits-percent-reduction-and-crit-damage-reduction-oh-and-it-makes-dots-weaker to a crit-percent-reduction-and-flat-damage-reduction. Jesus stat.

I haven't played since pre-tbc, but back then I was part of a pretty raid-centric guild. We were server firsts in a lot of areas pre-tbc, but now I'm playing post-wotlk on a new server with a friend.
Finally got my first char to 55 and started a death knight. I hate to say it, but I'm loving the hell out of it. I'm only 59 on it, and can't wait to start TBC/Wotlk areas since I've never been to them. I hear at that point is really when questing xp starts really shining, I hope so anyways.
So is this the best the death knight gets, or does it get even better than this? There is virtually no downtime so far as unholy and I'm aoe'ing like 5 mobs at a time in the time it took me to kill 1 on just about every other char I played (60 warlock, druid and paladin pre-tbc).

So Blizzard pretty much wants to force every PvPer to either use Resilience or just not queue up ever. Meaning if you don't have resilience already, OOOOOOH WEEEEELL!
Or you just keep PvPing against better geared people and steadily work your way up to earning that gear. Like how it's always been.
Since Arena.
Well, okay, that's not entirely true. More since T2.
I'm still a proponent of PvP-only gear that is super mega easy to get so that PvP is more about skill and less about who can play 100+ hours a week. But then those 100+ hour grinders would whine like two year olds.

Problem with that is that back in the old days, the damage:health ratio wasn't what it is now. For reference, the percentage of my health right now on live that I lose in a rogue stunlock with 500 resilience or so is pretty much equal to the percentage that I lost at 70 with like, two pieces of PvP gear.
Blizzard simply shoved damage and healing up way too high for PvP this expansion. I'd argue that they shoved it up a bit too high for PvE as well, considering what healing is like. There's a whole wealth of other problems, like the difficulty of caster escape or the fragility of pets, but the giant jack-up of damage compared to people's health is probably the biggest thing that made PvP suck this x-pac.
PvP has always sucked in WoW. PvP is all about the instant gratification, MMO's are about the grind; these are polar opposites. People liked world PvP specifically because it was spontaneous, and the gear grind has killed that spontaneity. Until Blizzard brings it back, PvP will continue its downward spiral.

I do agree world pvp was fun when it happened
Now the alliance still tries to bulldoze Crossroads but it's not as fun to defend it as it was in vanilla wow.

It's very easy to get a full set of gear with resilience via battlegrounds, and it's not like you need optimal gear for battlegrounds.
Also, assuming you play 10 arena games every week, even if you lose all of them, you'll still get 300 or so arena points a week allowing you to get 5 of your pieces of gear quite discounted.
Really, it's pathetically easy to gear up for PvP.

In the next patch, when all dungeons drop emblems of conquest, you should be able to cheese your way to proper PvP gear by just doing shitloads of heroics.
You'll notice by the door tooltip that they stop when it's low to farm kills to rank up to get 3 marks. They could have actually blitzed it down quicker.
I wonder if they had a Tenacity buff, because I know on my server that's the only way the Horde will get that achievement (before all the other raiders enter the zone).

I've never done Winter's Grasp. What exactly did they do and why did it go by so fast?
In Wintergrasp, you kill other people, each kill gives you 1/10th of the kills needed to get to the next rank. 10 kills to move from Recruit to Corporal, 10 kills from Corporal to First Lieutenant. Corporals can build catapults, fast but low damage. Demolishers/Siege Engines require First Lieutenant and do more damage but move slower. The goal of Wintergrasp on offense is to capture the 4 workshops in the zone to allow for 16 vehicles to be built, to be used to attack the walls of the fortress and then the final goal is do knock down that gate and claim the titan relic to win. By using the bombs they got inside while the rest of their team was probably still farming the kills needed to rank up to get vehicles.
They dropped the required kills down a few patches ago.
What's the feature though where you go right to First Lieutenant in one kill? Is that the auto balancer system thingy Blizz vaguely mentioned about once?

Yeah, that's for low pop fights, and I think it might have something to do with tenacity too. If you fly in and 1 shot a tower with 20 stacks of tenacity, you get First Lieutenant right away. You also used to be able to log out with the rank and log back in with it if there was a battle in progress. Was the source of seeing 16 siege engines roll your way on defense in the first 10 sec of the game.
That's nothing. Best game I ever saw went as follows: Horde is gathered en mass at the portal as usual, waiting for the game to start. Portal comes up. 40 Horde all port through. One Alliance scrub is in the Horde camp, for whatever stupid reason. Said scrub gets predictably vaporised. 40 Horde all get First Lieutenant and have full siege engines at the gate right off the bat.
We won the match in about 3 minutes.
Everybody in the zone learned a key strategic lesson that day.

It's true that the crafted 78 gear really is good enough to get started in battlegrounds. Not solo, though. That'd be suicide. You need to bring at least one other skilled player, or two other players if you're a priest/shaman healer, with you if you want to have a chance at victory. That should change for shamans in 3.2 with the ghost wolf buff, but priests will still be very sad if they don't have two escorts.
But as for arenas, do you really think it's reasonable to have no chance to even have a good fight, let alone win, for several weeks until you get the gear necessary? I've given up on arenas making any sense at all.

No.
Possibly.

I've raided with DK tanks who were top dps in the raid when they were tanking (5000+).

With the new queue system you wouldn't be able to set it up like that video though.
Certain Engineering bombs does damage to the structures in Wintergrasp, with enough Engineers you can wreck some shit quickly.
