Living in Tulsa, Oklahoma, I suffer from a lot of stereotyping from the interenets. Like that we are all backwoods homophobes humping our bibles. But what's more exciting is that we have enough illegal immigrants here to keep the border patrol happy for years to come.
oh, and we have the BOK center.
It was built here in Tulsa just last year, and it's already #9 in the nation for ticket sales. The Eagles, Slipknot, Nickelback (ew), Fleetwood Mac, Toby Keith..A lot of big players have been here, and still are coming here! The one I am most excited about is Journey.
(but with that one asian dude singing instead)
And I got damn good seats for 65 bucks. Not close enough to feel the sweat off the band, but close enough to feel the sweat vapors.
Oh, and Paul fucking McCartney is coming, that one dude from the beetles! And this is like his one show of the year and it's expensive as hell. But not as much as Brittany Spears, which is $500 for front row seats.
Also most exciting for me is Rod Stewart, that old guy that still sings and looks like he's 30 years old, the Bob Barker of the rock'n'roll world. I am going to leave to buy his ticket today, and cry when he sings Maggie May.
Oh, and if you are in Tulsa, never go to the Cain's ballroom unless you want to deal with drunken middle aged men trying to put you into a mosh pit and getting punched by a drunk guys wife because you didn't laugh at his jokes. (She punched me in the shoulder, and it hurt.
)
So talk about some fucking cool concerts that you guys are going to attend and your personal experiences and things you hate about concert venues like the dads that bring their three year old kid to the pit of a slipknot concert.

you guys are too young
Paul McCartney is terrible. Even worse than Spears, so that's a relatively accurate pricing model at least.
it was magical
Billy Joel and Elton John also played here together. I was told it as epic.

I saw Phoenix in concert before I ever heard of them since my friend had an extra ticket, that was fun

I dunno if I should go spend 57 bucks to see Lupe Fiasco in September....
The #1 band I want to see here is Muse but I doubt that will ever happen because they prefer to play in obscure towns in mexico than come to oklahoma.

I'm more of a music in the background guy.
Not to rub it in, but Lolla last year was so much fun. Radiohead was even better last year than they were the other three times I've seen them, which means that they nearly transcended to godhood, essentially. Seriously, I don't think that Subterranean Homesick Alien is their best song in live performance, but last year it was aghhhh oh my god so awesome and then the fireworks went off and yeah.
Sorry you missed it.
Concerts I could've gone to but missed because life isn't fair:
Guitar Wolf right before Bass Wolf died
Bruce Springsteen... three times, once in Detroit, once in Chicago, and once again in Ypsilanti
The Beatles, although technically this is because they broke up a decade before I was born, but whatever

true as this may be, this doesn't make you psychic
stop trying to control my thoughts
I can't tell if you are making fun of me or not! But it was a catastrophe, I can't believe I bitched out on that show. I had a ticket and everything.
