Heroes of Newerth (HoN) - ITT we stop buying the Runed Axe already!

Also, I haven't played against Ezekiel yet (only with him on my team, but never as him) but holy shit. He's way too good.
The lobby time ended up 10x longer than it have to be because of all the quitting, kicking, and top player team hugging.
Also, unlike Dota, no one willing to play support class anyone, everyone are either agi hero or carry hero, thanks for the wonderful K/D ratio. If you have anything lower than 0.5 ratio, aka support class, you will have your account ruin since no one will play with you.
I play Blazblue, Soul Calibur 4, Street Fighter 4 and soon Tekken 6... yeah... so add me if you want to play any of those.
The stats on players are almost useless for their skill indication. If they're longtime dota players, they're quite possibly much better than their stats suggest. I can tell you that my KD ratio is just about 1:1, and I'm honestly a stronger player than just about everyone I've ever fought. That's what playing support heroes does.
Also, I'm out of beta invites, but I'll pass along my current PMs to friends.
That sounds terrible. The Korean DoTA offspring I play is called Avalon Online and all other players can see is your level (a weighted win/lose ratio that rewards playing a lot). Plus, each character is categorized as two of five possible "classes," DPS, Tank, Support, Runner, Terrorist (building destroyer). I was hoping HoN was following a similar format because it's a lot more newbie friendly and encourages teamwork compared to traditional DoTA. Another neat (read: newbie friendly) addition it has is an "auto-item manager" that shows you how to upgrade items, along with a searchable item database built into the client.
I assume HoN has none of these and it's just a DoTA port onto its own client?
If by items upgrade you mean recipe, it is pretty easy in HoN too, all recipe show you where to get the item, the total cost to finish a recipe, and clicking on the recipe linked you to the item buying screen (if your next to the correct shop). HoN also classify their hero to Str/Int/Agi.
Its impossible to classify them into DPS/tank/supporter/runner/etc... since many of class have mutli-purposes depend on the item and upgrade you do. You will never make the same build or have a build order, since you will have to upgrade accordingly based on your team need and your opponent's build.
I play Blazblue, Soul Calibur 4, Street Fighter 4 and soon Tekken 6... yeah... so add me if you want to play any of those.
*has 05 Kill : Death Ratio but 1:1 Death:Assist Ratio
I am a Lane Pusher not a silly killer.
The BETA community of HoN is terrible in general like with the horrible Dota community.
Endless whining and complaining.
Call each other noobs.
Silly arguing over using kill:death ratio and class you are playing.
The horrible dota community is the reason why i quit the game in the first place.

Assists would be nice.
edit: I don't like the dark lady, or the change they made to tree. His armor skill helped you stay out in your lane almost indefinitely as well as keep your tower around longer even if you have to hug it. The damage ability is kind of silly since a radiance is standard on tree anyway.
Playing DOTA with only pubbies is kind of like hitting your dick with a hammer.
try to slow down your team's creeps by walking infront of them/blocking them. the closer the battle is to your tower the better, for obvious reasons.
edit: Thank you!

loved Demigod, love DOTA, this looks like good times.
please throw me one at johnatell7 at hotmail
I've found that this is a lot trickier to do in HoN than it ever was in DotA. The creeps tend to keep pushing forward around you rather than pause and figure out a new direction
I have had similar difficulties. Creep blocking has proved quite tricky in HoN.
Otherwise, I am totally loving it. I can't imagine ever going back to clunky DotA after this. Hero of Newerth has to many polished, convenient things in it to go back. Built in Banlist, servers to host on, stats, concede options, votes to remake or kick players and a smooth, integrated chat interface. Going back to DotA would be like going from a PC to an etch-a-sketch.
Thanks much, game looks amazing
Prepare some Haiku's. I'm gonna need some before I give beta keys.
Name is ubergeek in game.
Ok so......does the beta forum have a n00b guide? I'm not a DoTA player but I was always interested in trying it out. I think once I find a role I'm comfortable with, I'll do really well.
EDIT Nevermind, they have a whole section full of guides.
Keep that in mind, as this is true for both HoN and for DotA guides.
IMO 2x Crushing Claws 2x Minor Totems 2x Runes of Blight is a much better 'noob friendly' standard starting item build, because it gives you a good chunk of raw HP as well as a decent amount of regeneration to stay in your lane. His classifications are also pretty dumb.
This guide seems much better although it doesn't give item/skill builds (as those are hero specific) but it is a general guide to the concepts behind DotA/HoN
If you are playing with PA'ers who are experienced in DotA/HoN be sure to ask them for advice on item/skill builds.
My advice to newer players would be to always lane with someone who knows what they are doing, and play ranged heroes until you are comfortable laning as melee.
OK good to know. Do most of our PA guys play Legion or Hell? That way I can narrow down what kind of ranged guy to start with.
My guess is they watch some of the replays in an attempt to find bugs and truly broken skill combos that they view would unbalance things.
So for heroes....after looking over some of the ranged ones, how dumb would I be to pick Wildsoul? At least on stats and skills he looks like a good choice.
Edit: Horrible top of page, lemme fix that
He's a solid choice and as far as I can remember in DOTA he had 2 distinct builds plus variations, you could go without the bear, building him as a ranged DPSer with enrage or melee even and the build where you play Pimp mah bear and get a radiance on him, allowing him to burn people even when you're regenning at the fountain. I'll go check him out now, gotta get used to multi unit selection.
