Trying to connect my 360 to live via my PC which is connected to a wireless router downstairs. I've bridged the ethernet connection from my 360 and the internet connection from my wireless router succesfully, unfotunately I still can't access live from the xbox.
Tried my 360 directly into the router and it works fine, but doesnt work through my PC. It can aqquire the IP address, but always fails when teying DNS. Ive tried alteing the setting on my 360 to match the ones from my wireless connection but still nothing.

Any ideas?
Have you tried setting the DNS servers options in the XBox to the DNS Servers your ISP has?. I'm not sure your last sentence means that you've tried that.
Take the bridge off of the connections. On your wireless connection, go to properties, sharing and click the check box that allows you to share that connection. Connect the xbox to the ethernet link on the laptop, and you should be good to go.

Tried this before bridging, does exactly the same, gets the IP but fails on DNS.

Tried a couple of different things. Connected my 360 to live directly through the router downstairs to obtain the DNS settings it uses to connect there, but when I keep them and try it through my PC it fails at the DNS stage.
Also tried inputting the DNS server addresses of my ISP manually but again it didnt work.
It's probably more a matter of acquiring a dns connection than it is a matter of the dns servers not responding, but it couldn't hurt to try using the open dns server information.

also, make sure you're using the right type of ethernet cable, crossover/patch, I'm not sure which this situation requires, and I imagine if you used the wrong one you wouldn't have gotten as far as you have already, but hey, you never know.

Use Zonealarm, but tried disabling it and nothing changes. Bought a crossover cable today just to be sure but againit keeps failing on the DNS test.
This is driving me crackers.
Tried disabling ZA again with the crossover cable and it finally works.
