Man, so my goofy sleep schedule usually means I'm asleep right now, but it's just too hot. Cold shower'd, and I checked the weather; it's fuckin' 101 degrees. And that's outside - upstairs in the house it's like 15 degrees warmer always. Also we've got like an excessive heat warning in effect 'til Wednesday.

This is bullshit. I thought the northwest was supposed to be like overcast and rain.

I'm about to go downstairs to beat the heat.

After a brutal June with the average heat index of 105+ degrees everyday with the humidity around 80%, July has been surprisingly cool in MS. For the past 2 weeks we had temperatures in the low to mid 90s. It was amazing. I couldn't believe it.

So wait, AC isn't common in the rest of the country? Man that is weird. I can't honestly think of a single place I've ever been in the entire south, even crappy run-down ghetto convenience stores, that hasn't had AC. It might go out frequently but point is they had it.

God, I hate the heat and it's been rather warm up here in Holland. Which in turn makes my room hot and the only way to stay cool is to keep the window open, because they dont believe in ac up here or something, but then the bees get in.

while it does occasionally get hot here in Seattle, you have to keep in mind the humidity is much lower than in many other hot regions of the country

and as far as AC up here, it's usually not cost effective to have in your home if you only need it one or two months a year

It is hot up here why would anyone think its a good idea to not put central air into a modern home..it doesn't cost that much extra guys. When I moved up here last July and there was like 2 days straight of 102 weather I saw like 10 ambulances giving homeless people like oxygen and fluids I guess from heat exhaustion.

Air-conditioning is pretty common in PA. Most homes have some kind of AC, either the window units or central air, damn near every building-- store, restaurant, work place, etc has some form of air conditioning. I'm not sure what that guy on the first page was talking about.

Our apartment gets really damn hot since the shade trees were chopped down in the spring. Probably for the best though, they were all rotten inside.

I just keep a bedside fan on, when it's hot at night.

If I leave my window open I'll get at least two big-ass spiders in my room, and an entourage of moths.

I live 2 blocks from the beach in Southern California; most of the new homes in this area do not include A/C. Open up the windows and turn on some fans and we're fine. Of course it helps that it rarely gets much hotter than 85 here.

The flip side is that I am a complete pussy when it comes to weather that is actually hot or cold. Need gloves/scarf to go outside in the winter? Fuck that (I kinda miss snow).

Window AC units are not very expensive.

You don't have to cool your entire house/appt. Just one room.

For instance, in my old apartment I had a nice Window unit in my bedroom, the rest of the place wasn't cooled at all, but I just kept the windows open and had a box fan in the window to get some ventilation. It made it mostly bareable.

However, for the bedroom I actually hung a army style wool blanket over the door on the inside to make sure all that delicious cool air stayed right where I wanted it.

Seeing that my computer was also in the bed room, and I had a TV in there it worked out nicely.

Also, my girlfriend at the time would always want to go lay on the bed instead of setting on the couch.
