So I have recently purchased two games that both rock:

And



They're both fantastically awesome. My favorite nations are Scotland and Sweden, respectively. The power of the Swedes by the summer of 1722 is unrivaled.

Anyway, these games are big and complicated and awesome and beautiful and I know a lot of you have 'em.

I am a poor king, let us discuss strategies and post pretty pictures of ETW on max settings.

I like the United Provinces but I can't figure out how the fuck to get legitimately started with them

They have Amsterdam, and two weird ass cities on islands off the south american and indian coasts

but I'm still pretty certain it wouldn't run on mine, or run horribly

I recently started an american campaign

I am killing many things

just today the mughals declared war on me and attempted to attack an army of mine near their capital

I was the defender on a river crossing

I killed 1643 to their 43 kills

I crushed their capital 1053-35

praise white jesus

I am playing as Spain in Empire right now and FUCK the Barbary States, I have been putting down rebellions in Tripoli for the last 15 turns

also I don't know what the AIs problem is, but I can never get anyone to agree to a peace treaty, even when they're on the verge of defeat and I'm throwing in generous gifts (looking at you Poland, Austria, and Bavaria)

just give them 50k bribes like I do

Shogun: Total War was a blast. Lent my buddy my copy and he proceeded to get addicted to it.
Didn't see him for like a week afterwards.
Found out he'd been playing the game literally nonstop and bought Medieval: Total War as well.
I kind of feel proud I helped him find his inner RTS gamer.
Either that or I helped turn him into a social recluse for a summer. Both will do.

My ETW Sweden strategy-

I consolidated every Baltic province. Set all but 2 ports to trade ports. Gifted good relations with everyone. Get trade agreement. I have a trade agreement with every single major power and like 75% of the minors.

Getting trade agreements with everyone makes you mad bank, but just owning all the baltic ports doesn't make you as insanely rich as quickly as it did in M2.

I just updated my drivers and Medieval fell apart on me. I haven't tried Shogun yet, but I'm not optimistic.

I just wanted to fix this weird mouse problem they were having, where the game didn't recognize when the mouse was over an enemy unit, so I couldn't attack.

It makes me very sad.

Yeah, I'm loving England in E:TW. I think I screwed up so I'm gonna start over right, but it is hella fun killing Indians with line infantry.

I was too scared to try one of the larger countries, just couldn't think I could handle it. I've always run into trouble in total war games with trying to deal with every territory. I think I've got a good thing going with Prussia, but I've been playing a lot of other games. Maybe sometime soon I'll get back to it and crush the polish

I wish Maratha had more variety for infantry unit types but it is pretty sweet to have strong melee infantry and fuckin war elephants

Don't the Spanish just have random single territories in like italy and shit?

I find it way harder to get started in Empire than M2, probably because of all the economy nerfs they patched in.
