[WAR] Now With HDR & Bloom on PTS! Comparison Screens on p82!
... not sure if it was more useful. While they shouldn't have gotten rid of the no target rule, it literally only sent you forward a foot or two instead of the long distance jump it ended up as.
I just got to experience my first WB leader nerd rage Wouldn't have been bad if there were any other WB's doing anything, but I got kicked out of the only active one. Well, active if you count taking unguarded BOs and Keeps. Man that shit is boring. I kept hoping Destro would show up, but no luck. I then joined a SC and there were only 5 of us. I thought we were gonna be outnumbered, but then I saw that there were only 2 Destro. They wouldn't come out of the spawn, but eventually 8 more Destro showed up so I at least got to fight. Got owned pretty bad since no other order joined, but at least it was a fight.
So guys, dunno if any of you actually read and follow the herald but tonight there was a testing server event where a couple hundred people showed up to test some new RvR related introduction. There was also the introduction of Post Processing, like HDR and Bloom. I think it gets quite a nice effect. What do you guys think?
Simply put, player character shadows look fucking amazing. So do torch lighting, I mean the glow lighting from those torches looks leaps better and the light being manipulated by actual geometry looks great too as you can see by the ambient blue glow of the Inevitable City poking its head through the entry way. That picture is kind of zoomed out, but shadows on character models look great too, there is actually gradients across character armor! Oh, and I didn't notice any performance hitches either.

That looks pretty fantastic.
Also thanks to Atom, I got a free month. After neglecting my account for the past month and a half I feel like I should actually play some more. Hows the server populations since the latest server merge?
The servers have their highs and lows, but there is always some action somewhere and you don't always have to be riding the zerg wave when it is those high times.
Btw, noticed your sig. 80.6 hours of Titan Quest in 2 weeks?
Damn. This is one of those games that I keep wanting to go back to due to the changes to my main (magus) but at the same time I remember the love/hate relationship I had when I was playing it. This makes it difficult to take the plunge back in. Maybe I'll check it out once they get the post processing in. Hopefully I'll be a bit distracted from any bad by the pretties.

If only said jump hit moving targets also.
How did Leonine Frenzy used to work then? I'm having problems remembering how the reworked power even functioned (I suppose that says a lot about it).
Pounce wasn't always "jump to a target 10m away, deal weak AoE"? How did it originally work?
Originally it was you just jumped in the air and landed right in front of yourself, it didn't require any target.
Technically, first it was just the WL jumping up and down dealing a ton of AoE damage (I personally broke like 200k damage in tier3 as a WL back then, using only pounce over and over). This was a bug though and got fixed pretty quick.
Then they changed it to a longer distance jumpy attack, which required no target at all. So you could just fly all over the place and it was kind of really fun.
Then they made it require a target and upped the AP cost, and now it a lags a bit so you usually end up behind your target anyway.

There was a point where in 3 seconds (3 global cooldowns) you could have 9 different abilities fire off, this is including skill uses from the pet but not including auto attack swings. Could kill most anyone except skilled healers and semi intelligent tanks.
This wasn't in the beginning though but was the third time WL's had a really cool trick

Because I'm as lazy as I am busy, I probably won't touch the test realm. I'm curious though; do the post processing effects affect performance much?
Not that I noticed.
Then again, I do have an nvidia 280GTX so my card is pretty capable and it had the juice to spare. Still, I don't think it will be that bad of a performance hit even for older cards. Feedback that has come in so far has been pretty good.
Awesome. I *may* have time to start up something regular again (like a weekly or bi-weekly deal), and a buddy or two interested in some Order-side hootenany. Gorfang, maybe.
Man, I'm tempted, but with 3.3 hitting next week, WOW might just suck me back in again. I feel like running around being a total asshole to some order noobs/destro chuckfucks, though.
Things that do more than 1k damage to me. BWs, morale abilities.
Yes fire mage chuckle heads are still an I win button with good healers, mostly due to a couple of continually unresolved factors such as the various +powers allowing offense classes to move beyond stat softcaps easily, how broken healers are in terms of force multiplication, BWs being the best MDPS class in the game (as well as RDPS), PBAOES still stack, resistances softcapped at 40% of which a BW can debuff about 25% worth of mitigation, resistances stop appearing on armor at 40, jewelry/cloaks from LV and TOVL barely increase your resistances above existing jewelry sets, not to mention that given their mechanic causes their crit rate to be insanely high.
Short version they need to stop adding features and get back to class balance, low survivability does not offset insane damage when competent healers can turn anyone into a tank.
Well if rumors about "maintenance mode" prove to be true, then you will be happy to know they can't add many new features and have to focus on balance and bugs.

Except they have been doing this since launch with the exception of Land of the Dead.
So I just reactivated my old account with the free 10 days. PA Order still on Badlands im assuming?
Technically? Yeah.
Not a whole lot of people playing though.
I think like eight out of the last 15 people online are my characters and 5 of the remaining 7 are Schism guys who made alts on Order for when we don't want to run the City for the second time in the same day.
Warhammer, continuing their proud tradition of adding shit that no one asked for, and taking time away from actually fixing the reasons why the game is failing.
Everyone I knew that quit was because of lacking end-game content or balance issues.
Those are the 2 reasons why I quit. Oh how close WAR was to a great game. But much like lots of other MMOS, not having a good end game off the bat will deffinately help kill the MMO in question. Oh and bright wizards being retarded and still being retarded(apparently) will help kill any game too...
None of the people I knew quit because of WoW. Everyone I knew that quit was because of lacking end-game content or balance issues.
This was my reason. As much potential as it had, my main was a Magus and everytime they toned down any of the overperforming classes they toned down the magus as well who was already underperforming. I was kind of surprised they gave the magus the few buffs that they did a few patches ago. Still not enough to fix them though.
I quit because my group quit... but they quit because PVP at level cap just wasn't that much fun, and PVE wasn't nearly interesting enough to level another character on the same side (we made a Destro group built for PVE content and had some fun doing group-only stuff, but that got old after a while).
Also, fuck gear disparity between fresh level 40s and the higher RR stuff.
In response to your feedback and to make your move even easier we have decided to open up transfers from the Dark Crag and Phoenix Throne servers to all other available servers. As previously announced this service will be available to characters on these two servers beginning Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009.
Phoenix Throne and Dark Crag players will now have the option of moving to the following servers:

Good lord. I remember when Phoenix Throne was, if not the most populated, one of the most populated servers in the game. Dark Crag was no push-over too.
Guess that answers my question about whether I should re-subscribe after this Christmas.

Warning. Hueg!

You're joking right? Even with their ability that gives them 110 AP instantly for a measly amount of damage?

Such as endgame pvp consisting mostly of empty zone caps and occasionally getting wiped by a lone bright wizard and his healer.
