Borat is very much a hit-or-miss movie. There's three things that could happen, you'll find it hilarious, you'll find it too offensive to be hilarious or you'll find it mind numbingly stupid. Also, I wouldn't really think it'd be a good movie for the older folks esp. if they are on the conservative side.
No, they've both seen hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead, buth yes those are along the right lines...
Run Fatboy Run was made by the same guys, and not only is it funny, it's a real feel-good movie too, which is what they might need at a time like this.

I think I would have found that movie a lot funnier if I didn't have to hear every goddamn line in that movie being repeated over and over again during my later years of high school. When I finally saw it, I was pretty much :?
A movie I would recommend would be Bedazzled. It stars Brendon Fraiser, and even though his career has pretty much tanked lately, he still brings the laughs:

Life of Brian
Yea, it's really dumb. But the slapstick humor is fantastic and it's the only movie I've seen more than 10 times that still makes me laugh constantly.
Damn, I was trying to think of something and forgot the BEST COMEDY OF ALL TIME.
And if you've seen that, Caddyshack is pretty sweet too.
MALLRATS

To sum up the plot, a guy named Elliot Richards sells his soul to the Devil for seven wishes, but they usually go horribly wrong in the end.
It might not stack up to the more raunchier and edgy movies that came along with Seth Rogen's territory, but back in the day this was a riot.
