I was playing the demo for like the sixth time last night and I couldn't help but wonder why it seemed so empty, and the cobwebs looked like shit.

Why doesn't the console version get details? That is horseshit.

Those secret Achievements really don't spoil anything whatsoever, it alludes to villains that we already know are in the game.

That aside, awesome damn Achievements/Trophies. :^:

Inverted takedowns are the best, no two ways around it. And god I love Mark Hamill.

So I have both 360 and PS3 and 9 times out of 10 on multi-platform titles I buy the 360 version because I greatly prefer the controller. THe PS3 pad isn't a deal breaker though, and with this game the PS3 gets those exclusive Joker levels so here's the question, are those extras going to make it worth picking up the version for Sony's console instead? I'm leaning towards yes as ANY extra content for free seems worthwhile. Decisions, decisions!

Watching that physx demo, I was surprised. The hanging banners? The fog and steam? I hadn't seen any of that. Yeah, I played the PS3 version so, okay...but to not even have them in as background stuff is odd, to me at least.

    Hmmm...

Some story speculation based on th secret achievements:
The fact that there's no "defeat the Joker" achievement, and the fact that Ivy's achievement is last on the list and one of the biggest point rewards has got me wondering. I had read somewhere hat the story is going to involve Joker and Ivy struggling with each other for control of the Asylum. Could it be possible that, in a twist, Ivy actually manages to take control and usurps Joker as the main villain late in the game? Dini's a pretty big Ivy fan, and one of the definitive Ivy writers, so I wouldn't put it past him. I think it would be a cool twist, too, letting one of the more overlooked a-list Bat-villains get the spotlight.

Or maybe she's just simply one of the last bosses and there just isn't an achievement for defeating Joker aside from the complete the game one, which is pretty likely too.

The question is basically: Do you want to play as the Joker and take out roomfulls of guards?

If the answer is yes and you were going to buy the game anyway, seems that PS3 is the way to go this time.

If the answer is "I don't care," then I have to ask "Why do you hate fun and joy?" :P

Honestly, if you have both, I'd think it would be a PS3 buy in this case. I don't think there's any MP component so Live vs PSN is out. Controllers are a valid concern, but more content is always good. Plus, free extra content.

I bought this pad because I felt the same way during the short period of time I had my PS3. Luckily, it also works for the PC, so I kept it around. The left analog and d-pad are interchangable, and xInputEmulator makes it function as an Xbox 360 controller for all those games that only function with it.

The only drawbacks are it's not wireless, and the programing software rarely functions with current games.

Also, it was only $30 at Best Buy.

EDIT: For some reason, the website says this is the PS2700 model of gamepad. The one I bought says Cyborg V.3 Rumblepad. AFAIK, there's no difference.

Of course, lots of Dini's Joker stories come down to Batman beating him up, so, who knows? I'm really excited about the story, however it goes. This looks really cool.

It looks like there's only a few villains who are going to be proper boss fights. That's kind of dissapointing, but hopefully we'll see a bunch of stuff like the Zsasz thing in the demo where you have to take out b and c-list villains.

In the Harley gameplay video Batman says "Jokers trying to prove something, im not sure I can beat him this time" I dont think hed let himself be outdone by Ivy or any of them but its POSSIBLE that he and Batman will actually 'work together' because I've heard that those freaky monster guys are the result of experimentation going on in Arkham. I could see the ending being Joker turning his therapist into a gibbering lunatic or them working together to some end and coexisting like the end of the ..er..I always forget its name, the comic where Joker shoots Barbara. This game seems like its taking on a more dark tone and painting a deeper relationship between the two that existed in Return Of the Joker more so than the series proper. MOstly because that oculdnt be as dark as was required.

I was annoyed that the PC version wasn't going to have the Joker segment, but I can appreciate now that they went the extra distance for the PC as well.

Honestly, I was expecting a phoned in port, but the graphics are solid (haven't tried enabling the PhysX stuff, might do now), framerate's smooth, and they've configured it for the controller. What really impressed me was that the game actually recognised that I have a five button mouse and mapped buttons 4 and 5 to quick batarang and grapple. No game I've played before has ever default mapped those two buttons. I was about to re-map them to something else but really all the controls seem to work fine.

Question: Did anyone else get a sudden slowdown in that scene with Zasz? Just as Bat's is swooping him to kick him the framerate really bottoms out for some reason. I'm guessing it might be something to do with the video monitors in the background repeating everything on scene, but that's just a guess on my part.

    Also, one I asked earlier.
Quick question though, how do you perform a throw on the PC version? I tried Shift + LMB but it doesn't seem to work. Also, is a "combat takedown" (shift + RMB according to the menu) different from a "ground takedown" (control + RMB)? Because I tried to do one of those but couldn't either. Both of those are ones that use the shift key according to the menu, and I don't know whether they just described it incorrectly or I'm doing it wrong.

Most Unreal Engine 3 games? You can't even map MB5, it treats it as MB4. Was really annoying in UT3, Mass Effect, and Gears of War. We've had 5 button mice for regular desktop work for a decade now. Heck, even Windows puts those two buttons to intelligent use.

So far I'm very impressed with the PC demo. Runs smoothly, with no noticeable hiccups, and looks bloody gorgeous. My only criticism is a pretty minor one, namely the checkpoint save structure. I tend to prefer manual or configured autosave setups, but I suppose its a fairly minor flaw in this case. I will most definitely be picking this game up.

Very cool they added that stuff in but I'm getting the PS3 version. Strange thing though is that I couldn't find any video settings so I have no idea what res its running at and stuff.

And its pretty neat that the cape and cowl are blue in bright light but in the darker areas they appear pretty much black.

Yeah I have a great PC, but I'll get it on 360 most likely because I'm an achievement whore.

Arkham Asylum does include achievements on PC. All Games for Windows with the LIVE logo on the bottom right side of the header on the box art include achievements.

Oh, good, I wasn't the only one to think that. I like the fact that Rocksteady incorporated the "game view" into the image. In fact, I had to go check a few of my other games to make sure that wasn't a standard thing in other demos/games.
