Trying to enable MAC filtering

So I just got a Linksys WRT54G (ver. 6) and I'm trying to enable MAC filtering. When I click on the radio button on the router settings page to enable the filtering, it thinks about it for a second and automatically reverts to the Disable button. How do I convince it to let me allow only certain MAC addresses?

This is my first time playing around with anything like this so I'm really green. Is there some step I'm supposed to take before doing this part. I already have SSID broadcast disabled and set up WEP encryption (I'm not using WPA because I'd like to take my DS online). Thanks for your help.

Are you doing the config over the wireless connection or wired? If wireless, have you already entered the MAC address of the machine you're doing the config from?

I was doing it over wireless and hadn't already entered my laptop MAC address. Is it really something as easy as using a wired connection for setup? Haha, I told you I was new to this stuff.

I would assume that's the problem, but I don't know for sure. I set mine to only allow configuration over a wired connection, and I know that works.
