Proper attire for upscale bars?
Captain ElevenThe last card is a kronkRegistered Userregular
Tomorrow night I'll be going out with a group of people for a friend's birthday. We plan on going to a couple of upscale bars (not clubs). Problem is, with me being the non-social person that I am, I'm not sure what is considered proper attire for such places. Anyone care to share some insight?
And nice shoes - friend of mine got refused entry to an "upscale" (god I hate that they call them that, since they usually are full of the sleeziest girls and the most douchey guys) bar.
Also, expect the bouncers to be full of themselves. It comes with the territory of getting to tell people what they can and can't wear.

My rule of thumb is that if the bar doesn't let you in with Levi's, it's not a place I want to be.
I would wear non-khaki dress pants and a (cotton, not silk) dress shirt with a tasteful pattern. Try and dress like a model out of a Banana Republic ad.
Actually, OP, did you see 500 Days of Summer? Sort of like that. Actually exactly like that, maybe without a sweater vest. But the vest did make it look extra awesome.

My advice is avoid khakis. Acceptable shirt colors are: white, pink, ecru, light blue, blue, and french blue. Men's wearhouse has lots of colors besides those and generally they should be avoided.

I dunno how to properly differentiate it...it's creamier? paler? Anyway, were you to wear khaki pant and an ecru shirt you wouldn't look matchy. it wouldn't look good, mind you, but it wouldn't be the same shade.

AND shoes in 'Dress' and shoes not like '%neakers%'
LOL.
Thanks for the input guys, I think I'm going to do with the dress slacks/button down shirt/dress shoes combo.

Business/khaki pants, button down shirt (without tie), matching shoes.
Don't forget a belt either, don't want to look like you're 12 and your mom dressed you.
Yes

shoes LIKE '%' + '';-- DROP TABLE SKANKS;' + '%'
you do not have permission to drop the skanks table. Sure you can truncate it, but TBL_DOORMAN will just INSERT more Ho's
