Ok so yesterday was my girlfriend's birthday and i'm suffering from a MAJOR hangover today. To add on top of that, i'm at work! What are your ways of killing a hangover BESIDES having a beer?

having a beer doesn't cure a hangover, it helps with addiction.

you need to hydrate, and stay hydrated.

every time you take a piss, drink some more water or gatorade.

use gatorade because it has "salts" your body needs.

a little coffee can help you, but just a little. that or an "excedrin migraine" pill.

    stay hydrated. hope this helps.

My number one hangover cure? Pedialyte. When I know that I'm going to get seriously sauced, I usually pick up two liters...one for before I go to bed, and one for the morning. It's important to remember, though, that dehydration is only ONE part of a hangover.

I both agree and disagree about the beer, incidentally. "Hair of the dog" is great if you absolutely MUST lessen the hangover as quickly as possible, but it is only postponing it, not curing it. Stick to sleep and Pedialyte.

    Water, water, water, water and

    water.

    You must stay hydrated.

If you are feeling sick, say stomach ache, orange juice always helps me. I think its the acidic.

Vitamin Water - the fruit punch flavor - I think it's called Revive.

    Also food and Gatorade.

I've never found anything that works perfectly.

The best solution I've come up with is to take some alka-seltzer, drink lots of water, eat something substantial, but not too greasy, and have a little bit of coffee.

All of that helps my hangovers, but it definitely doesn't cure them.

See, for some reason, greasy food seems to help me. To each his own, really.

But one thing it seems we all agree on is rehydration. As I said before, my vote is for Pedialyte; it has more electrolytes than any of the other options mentioned in here.

yes. yes yes. vitamin water is one of the best things ever.

i usually eat a lot when i'm hung over. sausage pizza from dominos makes me feel 10x better.

also, it probably won't help much now since you're at work, but exercise does wonders for me. i'll go to the gym if i'm hung over. you'll feel like complete dog shit while you're working out, but afterwards, you'll feel oh so good.

I had a bottle of the revive Vitamin Water. Man...that worked some nice wonders. I mean, I'm still a bit hung over but I feel better this morning. No wonder they call it revive :)

Oh, one thing that I DON'T recommend is caffeine. Once, I stayed out with some friends until last call, passed out at a friend's, and woke up at her place with less than 20 minutes to get to work. I stopped at the store and grabbed a couple Rockstars.

    Big huge mistake.

Caffeine only adds to deyhdration. Stay away from it if possible.

Go for some juice or gatorade..maybe a Guinness to boost your iron levels ;)

I wasn't taking it to rehydrate, silly. I was drinking it because the only sleep I had was three hours passed out in a strange bed, and I needed to work the next day. I am well aware that caffeine is a diuretic...I just needed the energy.

In fact, I had to be to work an hour earlier than normal, since we had a conference call to the stinking UK, and I had to be there.

There's no real immediate cure. What works for me is to avoid cravings for heavy, greasy food and have some shredded wheat or something else high in magnesium. Pop a Vitamin B pill. Drink a ton of water, and keep drinking water. Avoid coffee as that will just dehydrate you more. It will not have an immediate effect, but it will make the hangover pass quicker and not last all day.

i generally wake up much earlier than i normally would on the mornings after i drink, like 7 or 8am. So i'll eat a banana, have a glass of milk, and a glass of water, and then go back to sleep for a few hours, and i'm usually golden after that.

Shit loads of water and eat boiled eggs. Make sure the middle of the egg isn't runny. Salt the egg as well, and, if you like pepper, pepper it.

One way to avoid a hangover is to drink a lot of water before you go to bed. Maybe one cup for each drink you had. Usually in the morning you should feel pretty good.

Before I go to bed after a night of drinking (if I've had more than, say, three drinks), I always take 400 mg of Ibuprofen (e.g. two Advil tablets) and one full glass of water.

I never, ever have hangovers as a result.

This is also dangerous, and can result in serious heart problems.

My hangover prevention is a shitload of water before bed. My hangover cure is bottle after bottle of gatorade, and wishing the rest of the world was dead.

The Revive Vitamin Water is indeed a pretty good hangover cure. If your hangover is spectacularly awful, you might need more than 1 though.

For food, usually something slightly greasy helps. Bread/carbs in general seem to help me a lot. I usually get a burrito or a sandwich shop sub when I feel crappy.

I supposed that depends on how often you get drunk.

Also, I've only heard it can result in possible stomach problems, not heart problems.

Water, fruit and Fruit juice. Lots of it. It'll keep you hydrated and the fruit will give you sugar etc.

A nice fatty breakfast like bacon and eggs with baked beans on toast. Hashbrowns, sausages, roll mop (if you have it). The fats and the salts help too.

Fresh air. Go for a walk if you can, if you can't open all the windows in your house.

Sunglasses can help if you have a headache.

Take a nice long shower. I think this one is more psychological but you'll feel refreshed and relaxed and I dunno cleaner I guess.

Best cure for a hangover is not to get one in the first place. Drink water while you're drinking or have drinks made with fruit juices. Drink a ton of water before you go to bed and pop a multivitiman or two too. Also one thing I've found is do not go to sleep drunk off your ass. Your metabolism slows when you sleep letting the alcohol stay in your system longer and dehydrate you more.

    WATER

I can't agree with this more. It's too late for you now, but stick it out for thirty minutes or an hour, bottom two or four liters of water, and wait a while to make sure you piss it out. Then go to bed. It sucks to tough it out when you're drunk as shit, and sometimes you'll feel worse when that water trickles past your stomach (read: Oh shit, zomig can't fucking stand), but in the morning, you'll know you've done right.
