X Files Resist or Serve question

I just bought this game, and intend to play it, but I wanted to know what's its place in the big picture of the X files mythology.
In other words, I'm midway through season 6... is it too early for me to play the game?

I don't want to spoil the x files story by playing a potentially spoiler filled game.

    It's not as bad as you'd expect. For one thing, it's got Scully in it. So that's a big plus right there.
