Seattle banks

kimekime Queen of BladesRegistered User regular
So, I'll be moving to Seattle in a few weeks (yay!). I'm curious what banks or such will be good and reliable in the city.

Not sure where I'll be yet, but probably within a 30 minute drive of the main downtown ish area.

Also, I'll want to get a credit card, since I have never had one and it's about time. I plan on paying it all off every month, but I don't want anything with super severe interest rates, etc, just in case.

Suggestions? Thanks for the help!

Is there any reason you think you'll need a local bank? If you count USAA as such, I've been using Internet based banks for years.

If you do need something local, you'll probably want a credit union. Otherwise, get hip with Ally or Capital One 360.

http://www.nerdwallet.com/ also has comparisons of various Internet options.

Not necessarily I guess. I don't think I've ever really heard of someone using a fully Internet based bank, I don't think?

I'm ok with a credit union, if that's better.

I'm still with BECU even though I've moved to Iowa. It's part of the credit union shared branching network, where you can go to any other credit union part of it and still bank as if you're going to your own. The link: http://www.cuservicecenters.com/

It's handy when you go traveling or if you need to move.

Fifth this. And I'm not even in Seattle anymore. Co-op network is awesome! And debit card is through major network so I could use it overseas, no worries.
