This is the most intelligent Malachi has been yet. And possible the most kind to others....we shall see.

It's a good thing Malachi has a talent for jumping.

Panel 1 would make a great print. At least I think so. Or a bookmark. With the lantern and Malachi and Linus with books saying something inspirational about reading being cool on the other side.

That reminded me of the hobbits hiding from the Ring Wraiths in the forest.

Umm... this could get REAL dark if there's a drowning...

Why all this talk of a death making it dark? Does no one remember the zip line comic?

Didn't the zip line incident create Lumpy?

    No, that's the hypochondriac camper.

Well okay, but unlike the zipline incident, this would pretty much be Malachi's fault.

I hope Tanner is ok. At least nobody is stopping him from being reckless though

I don't think a drowning is the direction in which this arc is headed. This arc is about Malachi's growth as a character. Throwing in a death would just seem out of left field and unnecessary.

Why has no-one questioned why the lantern belongs to Linus? If he found it in the camp, the other campers should have as much a right to it.

Malachi just showing off that impressive Leap skill.

I was about to really not like Malachi

I'm loving the moonlight reflecting off the lake ripples effect, especially in the frame where Mal does his 180.

The conspiracy theory lover in me likes to think you're using some type of backmasking technique (suitable for the visual medium) to inject your infernal message directly into our cortices ( I hate you English/Latin, I demand that cortexes should be proper pluralization) to love your comic even more.

I'd still be ready to not like Malachi. I've briefly considered that he's performed this elaborate ruse just so he can keep the lantern for himself. It'd be a shame, but might be his way of getting back at Linus for yelling at him.

I love your continuity skills, Katie! Behold, the missing rock and a small concavity where it used to lie!

Regardless of how this ends...I'm weirdly proud of Malachi.

Yeah. Malachi has given up his chance to be popular with this clique in order to try to earn forgiveness from Linus.

That's a big step for him. He has forsaken the one thing he seems to crave for the feelings of someone else.

I wonder what is gonna happen now, it's not like the camp is going to just allow Malachi back in, this is going to take an interesting turn.

And good for Malachi, I thought I wanted a turn but instead I found that all I wanted was compassion, and boy did we get it.

Maybe we'll get another "Malachi gives a deep and thoughtful speech about friendship respect, and everybody leaves in boredom" Moment.

Don't know if I should use spoiler tags on this, but Tanner isn't going to drown.

    Oh! My! Gawd!
a YETI!! is going to eat! Tanner?!?
where the hell did that come from? is the camp in the Himalayas?

p.s. the spoiler tag is still broken on the comic webpage, it wasn't till I came to the forum I saw you had the actual spoiler.

p.p.s. again, I hate when reality doesn't match my perceptions ;)

I'd probably cry if one of the campers died. Even one of the jerks.
