Ok. Right away, I'm a sucker for sim type games. I love building things. I love games where you build up a town or a community. The city building in SWG was way ahead of its time, and that was my favorite aspect of that game. Halfhill farm in Mists of Pandaria is pretty much my favorite game feature they ever added to WoW. Games like Stardew Valley, Graveyard Keeper, and Animal Crossing are my jam.

So when I heard that there's a new game coming out that is described as a "community simulation massively multiplayer online game" they instantly had my attention.

Behold: Palia. A brand new MMO that was just announced.

Here's the official announcement trailer:

IGN describes the game on their site as follows:

Singularity 6 announced today that is working on Palia, a new MMO that is equal parts Stardew Valley and World of Warcraft. Described as a "Massively Multiplayer Community Sim," it will bring players together to revive a quaint village while working to solve an evolving mystery.
Palia is being developed by a collective of former developers from Blizzard, Epic, Riot, Zynga, and Sony, and it shows in the overall aesthetic

And here's a few screenshots--

If this all sounds exciting to you, here's the official website. Right now they are taking signups for "pre-alpha registration" whatever that means.

It looks very cool. Relaxing chill vibes. But I'm skeptical whether it'll live up to that, or if it just ends up as some kind of very limited survival-crafting game.

They do got a registration for some kind of pre-alpha thing on their website, if registering for such things is people's thing.

Yeah I should add that to the OP. I'll grab a link.

I had short bursts of fun with dumb survival/town building MMORPGs like uhhhh what the heck was it... Wurm Online? If it's vaguely like that but less janky I am interested.

This thread is old, but this game is not dead!

I figure since I made the OP I should post some news:

BETA Signups are open. Create an account on their website. From what I gather, they are doing a Closed Beta that will be a random selection, and then an open beta after that in which anybody can try it out.

I'm still casually interested in this game. I'm interested to see where they landed on the spectrum of adventuring to just chilling and relaxing.

They had a recent pre alpha thing, and everything I read said it was incredibly bare bones and was really just reminiscent of mobile games and lots of microtransactions. Like there 10 options for player creation, but already 50 in the store (for a game that's not even in beta)
