help! plz!

I signed a non-compete agreement when I started working with this company last year. I started working for them as an independant contractor, but they recently got an audit by the gov. and they say that I am an employee BECAUSE of the non-compete agreement

he is pissed off, because of higher taxes now, and back taxes (which ill have to pay?)

does this make any sense? was I lied to? cheated?

Don't let them take any of your money. A contract is a contract. You owe the government what you owe the government, don't let them make you pay what they own the government.

Also, start looking for a new job.

A lawyer specializing in contract law/taxes/etc in your particular state may not be a bad option either.
