[OMNIBUS] Explanation please.

Ok, so I get that the Omnibus are collections of the overall comic stories. I get that. It'd be cool to read ALL of spiderman without actually having to collect ALL of the issues.

SO. Is it just Marvel? Is it DC also? What about Dark Horse? Will the format stay the same as subsequent volumes are released (I fucking hate it when my shelf has the books in order and then 1 or 2 go off and redesign the damn side-jacket)?

    It's just a marketing term. All of the companies are doing them, but they aren't using a set format across companies.
