People who like Alien better are objectively better human beings
Alien and Aliens are such different films it's actually hard to compare them to me. Aliens is one of the best movies ever made for it's genre. Alien is a better concept though, to me.
One of the really great things about Aliens is that Signorine Weaver is a female action hero rather then just a guy with tits.
The distinction really is that she cries in this movie. A guy would never cry.
We spent the better part of three classes discussing this and comparing and contrasting her with Michelle Rodriguez who pretty much plays a guy with tits in all of her roles. It's not just the crying, it's the role she adopts with Newt.
Well in Alien all the roles were written and then genders were assigned to them after the fact, which is interesting. Weaver's character could've easily been played by a dude.
Aliens is different however, obviously they were writing the part with Weaver in mind being a sequel and all.
even if every critic in the business gave it rave reviews, even if it drove 99% of its viewers to orgasm, i would not believe something so transparently vacuous even qualifies as good popcorn entertainment
i would sooner believe that the sky is plaid than that avatar is a good movie

In discussing the relative quality of Alien vs Aliens, it is important to notice the important aspect. The franchise made an abrupt u-turn in genre (going from thriller/horror to action) and yet still preserved the same level of quality of the original.
They are VERY different movies, almost to the point where it is difficult to compare them; yet they are both in the same continuity and contain the same subject matter.

Well, I don't know what you are into personally. I'm getting some videogames and awesome boardgames for christmas. Who knows what you need though. Maybe a new monitor or computer part that has become very outdated for you. Maybe some new books. I find christmas can often be a great time to ask for things that you want but might regret spending money on later, like a videogame you might beat really fast or a book that might turn out to be not that great, etc.
