And I know it's a bit of a hassle, but you should really, really go to his website and watch the video for "From the Reel". It's beautiful. It's not on youtube.
svidrijrikriliririririri
i like your taste in music it is similar to mine
you should post more good music like those bands you posted, there
Hmmm...
How about some more Gregor Samsa? They're pretty fantastic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_i2UmRY5pA&fmt=18
I discovered them through an article titled "albums to avoid while operating heavy machinery," which would actually be a pretty good description of my musical taste.
Another from the list:
Grouper - Heavy Water/I'd Rather Be Sleeping http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWSVE198yGw&fmt=18
I've heard this album (charmingly titled Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hill) described as "twelve patches of untouched snow." I like to fall asleep listening to it.
Neither the whole of truth nor the whole of good is revealed to any single observer, although each observer gains a partial superiority of insight from the peculiar position in which he stands. It is enough to ask of each of us that he should be faithful to his own opportunities and make the most of his own blessings, without presuming to regulate the rest of the vast field.
Sometimes I get this perfect moment, when I'm riding a train it is nearly empty and there is a perfect twilight sunset beyond the window and there is good post-rock playing in my headphones.

I have seen these guys live no fewer than 9 times. Also, Faun Fables a few times and 2 Foot Yard once. I think I'm in one of the 2 Foot Yard live videos on youtube.
Can Todd Rundgren be considered obscure? They play "Can We Still Be Friends", "Hello It's Me", and "Bang the Drum All Day" on '70s/'80s mix stations enough, sure, but I don't think I've ever met many individuals who actually go out of their way to listen to his stuff besides those big singles.

Yndi Halda is pretty rad. They have a lot of Explosions in the Sky and MONO in their sound, but they're consistently more interesting than either of them.
This song makes me want to charge into battle with a big fucking sword or climb a mountain or fly on a cloud or something.
I HAVE THIS
:^:
My current obsession is with dreampop. And by association, shoegaze. Lots of Asobi Seksu, MBV, M83, Mew, Raveonettes, Sunny Day in Glasgow, Silversun Pickups, etc.
Man, not one, but two people who have also listened to these dudes. My mind is blown.

Nope! It was supposed to be out, but they're not finished. Got this email on the 17th:
People!
Ions have passed wince we last wrote.
A lot has happened considering we haven't left our island in the longest of times. Been playing the odd show here and there and chipping away at our record (which we promise is getting closer) It's still called 'Vision Revision' and It still makes our eyes well up when we mention it.

And something to wake you back up:
Bell Orchestre - Quintet
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tv74mge0crU&fmt=18
Maybe this isn't as obscure, I don't know. Bell Orchestre is a side project of two Arcade Fire members.
YES
This song. Standing in the snow as it fell thick around me looking out over the hills last night

I missed my chance to see them live.
Poor me.
it was a good episode.
Not really
(i don't dislike it, but episodes with peggy being too peggyish make me uncomfortable.)
Hittin' too close to home, huh?
this is probably pretty obscure

Emancipator - Anthem
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PEGDGxZdzA&fmt=18
Man, not one, but two people who have also listened to these dudes. My mind is blown.
Music. Let's see. I saw Do Make Say Think in Philly a couple of weeks ago. That was pretty radical. And in the same week and venue, Russian Circles. It was a wonderful week for postrock.

you're a bastard
completely and utterly so
also hey this new nokturnal mortum album is very good, reminds me a lot of Arkona without a female singer and a bit more metal than folk.
