Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Deus Ex is the best game I've ever played, and it was so good that they never made a sequel. So here's a trailer for Deus Ex 3!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FRWYRqaGFE

Everything you need to know about the first game:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vxi7JRJrod4

Also, don't pick swimming, 'cause it's fairly useless.

Known facts about Deus Ex 3:
  • It's actually a prequel, set in 2027, 25 years before the first game
  • Mechanical augmentation rather than the first game's nano-augs
  • Some sort of cover system is in place
  • Regenerating health instead of medkits
  • Developed by Eidos Montreal
  • Scheduled for early 2011
  • Can't possibly be as bad as Invisible War

Cautious optimism begins now.

Invisible War wasn't terrible, but compared to the first Deus Ex it was kind of poop from a butt.

But if it were called 'Cyberpunk - The Punkening', it would have been a decent first person shooter.

    Trailer is looking pretty good!

Although I have to say this looks more like it took place after Deus Ex, rather than before. The cities in Deus Ex hadn't really changed dramatically from their Earth counterparts.

I was actually enjoying DX:IW a fair bit for the first half, but it went and negated everything good it had going for itself round about when I was teleported to Antarctica to be greeted by aliens.

It was also buggy as hell.

You should check out alpha protocol, along the same lines. Flawed game, kinda wonky controls and weird stuff, but kinda fun the parts I've checked out

but yeah, love deus ex. I always pronounce it dee-oos ecks, like it's a dirty poop

I'm having a blast with it! All sneaking around then kicking dudes in the face when I inevitably raise the alarm. The dialogue system they have is pretty unique, and sneaking around is cool. There's just a lot of parts that feel unfinished/flawed (some combat, respawning enemies, cover system is dumb, minigames kinda annoying, etc etc). It's not a world beater, but if you liked deus ex and metal gear solid and mass effect 1, it could be a good time.

I would like to play Alpha Protocol, but I've heard enough bad things from enough people I trust to want to wait until it drops in price.

I'm still playing through RDR, anyways, and I've got a shit ton of games in my backlog.

Going by GTA4, you're looking at... eight months, most likely.
