I just spoke with (named removed by me) , Assistant Principle, who said she is very much aware of the law, and that (name removed by me) must be confused. She said she would take care of it immediately (this afternoon), speak with (name removed by me), and let him know that he cannot single kids out for sitting out the pledge.
If you wouldn't mind, I'd love to hear back from you in a few days to make sure that she's good to her word, and that you are being allowed to sit out (and without any negative comments from (name removed by me)). Please send me an email after you have your next class and tell me how it went.
I am really impressed that someone at your age would have such knowledge in your rights...and an interest in exercising them as well. I salute your political courage - and if you ever have an interest in becoming more involved with civil liberties work, by all means let me know and we could always figure out how you could get involved in volunteering the ACLU. If not, thanks for reaching out to us, and I hope this situation is taken care of for good.
