I will probably pick it up when it gets cheap sometime next year.
Also, it's too bad that you have to get the bad end first/ can't get the true ending.
I was going to make a joke about Gaming-Freak being the last person I wanted to be in a survival-horror esque situation with.
Damn straight. I'd be the guy who snaps and beats people to death with a hammer, all while singing The Beatles song "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" in the creepiest possible way.

Yeah, ending 6 was the one I recently got that really confused me. I just couldn't figure out who could've brought it about.
On my 3rd playthrough, I think I've found a nearly ideal path that opens the plot wide open. We'll see how far this takes me.
I have two theories who the culprit is in ending 6, but ending 5 got confirmed for me by getting some subtle hints from ending 4.
I've now seen all six endings, and I still have no idea who the ending 6 culprit is. Unless it's (only a spoiler if you haven't visited rooms 1, 2, and 6: )

Because Maxwell's Silver Hammer fits a bit more? I'm just saying...
*ahem* Anyway, I'm surprised by the ammount of sexual references in the game... but they aren't "face-palm" stupid, but rather humorous, and lightens the dark tones of the game considerably.

Well, that makes sense. Cube is clearly the superior series.
He's referring to the number system with the doors. And yes, that would make it a bit closer to The Cube, despite how awful that movie was.
Not really, I meant in terms of the overall style, a group of people working together to try to figure out why they've been dropped in this environment. Saw is about punishing (killing) people with a method fitting their crime, right? I don't get that sense here. It's just a twisted puzzle and largely based around the interactions of the various people and their insecurities.

Taking the right path will get you ending 4, which is kind of a good ending. A video will then play that gives you hints on how to unlock the true ending (#1).
If you've been through every door, I'll give you a hint: the key to ending 4 is the safe.
Alright, I just got my first ending, ending 3. Here are my very spoilery thoughts so far.
My door path was 5 -> 7 -> 1 (piano room and casino with Snake, operating room with Clover, captain's quarters with Ace).
As soon as I went through that first door with the dead man and we looked at him in gross detail, I knew that his wristband would still be functional and someone should've taken it with them. Idiot Junpei.
And I think based on the ending I got that Ace got his hands on it somehow. He told Lotus he "had something to show her" and he'd be right back to show me too, and they left me alone (to die). The 9 door was available at that point, and 8+1+9 = 18 = 9. Jerks.
Regarding Snake's death, it looked to me like there were some letters written on the wall in blood. I thought they were C L R. A possible indication of who did it, with his dying seconds? I was frustrated that nobody ever drew attention to the extremely obvious letters on the wall. C and L could be Clover and Lotus, but why would his own sister kill him and then later go crazy and get revenge for his death? If Clover and Lotus did team up to kill him, they would've needed Seven's help to open the door, but the third letter looked like R. It's possible that Snake knew Seven (who had lost his own memory) and he wrote the letter of his real name...but then, why would he write the letter of his sister's code name?
However, the above paragraph is probably all wrong, because if you combine it with my theory about Ace, he could've killed Snake himself. 9+1+2 = 12 = 3. Ace volunteered to stay behind to make himself appear noble, but knew somehow that the rooms would lead right back to him. If I remember correctly, he then went into door 3 to look for Snake, knowing he'd be in there along with his wristband (which turned out to be broken!?). He might've even written the letters in blood to throw everyone else off.
I don't know all the implications of this yet, just want to see how much I can figure out before it all comes out. Maybe I've got nothing!
Also I was pretty pissed at one of the puzzles behind door 1.
EDIT: I got this wrong the first time. You're supposed to type the value of the letters using base 36 (ending in Z), but instead of the values I answered with the base that the letter would represent.
i.e., if your digits go to F then that's base 16, but F is actually the value 15.
Thus, my answer was 36 15 28 25, but the correct one was 35 14 27 24. Would've never got it without a little help from GameFAQs.
Also also, here is a helpful (spoilery) cheat sheet for getting through puzzle rooms quickly the second time. You could spoil yourself on other solutions but if you have a little restraint you should be able to find just the room you're looking to get through.
This arrived yesterday, and I got my first ending today.
Number five.
That was... depressing. And sudden, frankly.
HEY! HEY! You should pick Door 2 on your next playthrough!
hehehehe...Gotta love ending 6...
Picking door 3 is even better.
Yeah, I've since got endings 3 (christ...) and 6. Been through doors 1-8.
Ending 6 gave me a credits roll, which was unusual. Hopefully that lets me access a GOOD ending.
You gotta understand that every ending other than the true ending will be a bad one (ending 2 is a dummy ending that you get if you didn't get ending 4, preventing you from getting the true end).
My tip: take the doors that'll team you up with everyone at least once...

Yeah, I gathered that as I plowed through replays; it helps that you don't have to necessarily jump through all of the hoops every time. I actually got the dummy ending (2) first, since I figured out what I had to do in order to prevent ending 3 from happening again (for my money, that's the worst one, although 6 is no picnic either) -- I was actually on that path during my first play-though but chose the wrong door at the end and hit 5 instead. Getting the dummy directs you to 4, which re-directs you to 1/2. It's really neat the way they arranged the previews.
*ahem* Anyway, I'm surprised by the ammount of sexual references in the game... but they aren't "face-palm" stupid, but rather humorous, and lightens the dark tones of the game considerably.

So here's a thought for those who have explored all of the game's nooks and crannies...
As word of mouth on this game spreads (I should be writing my review for Snackbar today for publication on the 7th), more people will hopefully pick it up.
What do you suppose the likelihood of a raw rookie choosing the path(s)
I think people have a tendency to stick with the familiar, in other words, attempting to go through doors with the same people.
I also think the people who play this game will be most likely to go through door 5 first, out of morbid curiosity. Akane isn't well enough established to make me care about her by the time we get to that first decision point.

Theo only two people you can go through all three doors with are Lotus or Seven. You can never go with Clover or Ace the first time, and can't go with Santa or June the second time (unless you do, in which case they're shut out of the 3rd door).

But really, I saw a lot of things that I thought would become sort of hard to find, but looking on Amazon.. I just find them dirt cheap now!

I'm not there yet but hearing this makes me assume it's another one of those where you have to close the clamshell or use the microphone.

Picking door 3 is even better.
I did this too.
Went ahead and bought 999. $35 is a little steep. I really hope its worth it. I convinced the GameStop guy to pick up the game too, at least.

You were doing it wrong. (Puzzle answer in spoiler):
You're right, I had it backwards. I was still off by one, though.
