Apparently heavy snow is due for the UK next week. It's been years since there's been snow so close to Christmas in urban areas. Supermarkets and high streets are going to be fucking nuts if the snow gets too heavy.
Thanks to living in Cambridge, having parents in Gosport, and the girlfriend having parents in Yorkshire, we have around 900 miles to travel between now and January (my folks' place once, hers twice).
We could be spending Christmas and/or New Year in any one of a wide range of lovely motorway service stations.
It's a shame that my girlfriend's Waitrose discount doesn't cover service station locations

I would love to see it snow here in Los Angeles sometime, people already flip their shit when it starts raining. I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon though, in my almost 2 years living here, I don't think I've seen temps go below 45F or so. Currently it's upper 50's with a light mist.
I kind of miss the snow, looking forward to getting some mountain trips in over the winter months for some hot board-on-snow action.
Turns out the wind we got a few days back was enough to shut down the school for 3 days in a row. Wooo! Still, I'd like to see some snow before Christmas comes.
When it snowed heavily here in the UK a couple of weeks ago I had to walk home for two and half hours at night because the roads had jammed up. It's the only time when you're better off walking than driving as I shot passed this two mile long traffic jam and passed about five buses that are probably still there right now. Abandoned cars littered the streets and chaos ruled for twenty-four eons (hours).

you get enough fucking wind to shut down a school? that is awesome
I've never experienced a weather-related closure of anything
Apparently the Snowmaggedon is imminent, and by that I mean maybe 4 inches tops. 8AM final wasn't canceled but work was so instead of getting up earlier than normal and making money it was just get up early for forty five minutes of exam.
Just started snowing in Cambridge. It's not settling yet, though, as the ground's too wet.

I could do with this snow holding off for a few days, as I have to move house and I don't want to drive my tiny car filled with all my worldly possessions to Manchester through snowdrifts.
