Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it,
follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given
their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!
Nintendo 3DS Thread: Resident Evil The Mercenaries 3D awarded "best box art" so far

I reckon we'll be able to get it for ~$320 from JB, if $350 is really the RRP
Just spotted that - you beat me to it
The sad thing is I know that I'm getting one eventually, I'm just fairly certain I won't be getting one at launch.
Shouldn't that be 400 COLUMNS of pixels?!
Uhh... no. If your eye would only see one image from that perspective, the camera will only see one image. The frames aren't being displayed alternately because it isn't for shutter glasses.
It's 3d on a one dimensional field
I have no idea if all of those colours were available at launch though.
Or hell, a Green and Gold 3DS. Oh man, when Nintendo Australia actively did things that were kind of Australian. I still have my Aussie GBC somewhere.
/edit I can't find any images, anybody here know what I'm talking about?
Anywho, that Street Pass thing sounds pretty neat, I always liked the idea that you could be sitting somewhere and start playing a game with a random person just because they happened to be close, and this seems to take it to the next level.
On another topic, are the AR cards individualized? It looked like they were all the same, just the orange "?" box, I didn't see any kind of identifying marks like a bar code or something.
FTC: HONK.
I'm not really bothered about the colour, as I'll probably get a case eventually. My DS Lite has been sporting a Mario shell ever since I got it.

The colour of a system doesn't really matter but it would be nice if you could have a choice. I love my orange iPod Nano.
What are you talking about?
I'm not talking about 3D. 3D is turned off in these videos.
I'm talking about the frame rate that the game runs at.
The number of frames displayed on the screen per second.
Don't toss out your broken/unusable/worn out Nintendo (especially Gamecube/N64) controllers! Donate them to me!
Though how is Amazon with that? I think I remember hearing that when you placed your order can mean nothing with Amazon and they send them out at random rather than in any kind of logical queue.
I don't think I actually want any of the listed launch day games. Pilot Wings maybe? Still there's plenty coming up I know I'll want so given the expected difficulty of getting ones hands on a system when released I'm happy to buy one at launch and amuse myself with the built in software until Zelda/Mario/Animal Crossing come along.
WiiU: JamWarrior
Plus, assuming the store is up and running, I have all of the DSi stuff I've been missing out on, plus my DS games. I still need to finish Yoshi's Island and Apollo Justice, and Ghost Trick is just begging to be picked up.

Think it records video? :T
Not entirely unexpected, but it alreadly looks to be a guaranteed thing.
Japan Lines Up For 3DS . . . To Pre-Order It
That is the most beautifully awful thing I have seen, though I'll always have a soft spot for the Playskool style of GBC I upgraded to from my fading gameboy all those years ago:
Rock Band DLC / A Cheesecake Recipe / Xbox Live
It will at some point it seems, but not immediately.
From Iwata Laughs:
Thing is, the more colors you have available at launch the less colors you can introduce later to whip people into a frenzy because "whoa, green 3DS!" and then reap in even more sales. Then you have colors with revisions sometimes too after said revision has already been out for awhile.
Nintendo knows that some of their loyalists will buy anything and they take advantage of that when they can. What is even more awesome for them is that people thank them for it too. Thats the cynical viewpoint of course though, sometimes things do really need fixing. The "you can't see what you're playing" factor with the GBA and the fuck ugly exterior and form factor of the first DS are prime examples. And hell, I owned every version of the original DS except the DSi at one point or another.
I guess a lot of people will probably crack anyway though, once it's in the wild. Particularly the ranting GAFers.
Obviously if you are not from the US or Japan then it appears you are getting reamed and I feel sorry for you and you should probably put serious thought into importing.

Not that I've decided to get one at launch. The only thing I'd do is fiddle with the 3D. I didn't get a DS at launch since no games really impressed me. Give it a year and the quality games should arrive to persuade me. And hopefully a revision.
I wondered if that might be the case. After all, I do use the mouse in my right hand with no trouble. Here's hoping the game won't be that much of a problem.
Yeah, nothing wrong with waiting for a revision if that's your thing. Personally I keep in mind that there will be at least two revisions, so I get the original system and skip that first remodel.
Also, I was thinking about the XL, and how some people want an XL version of the 3DS...I'm not sure that it would work well. Wouldn't you have to be relatively further away from the screen for the 3D effect to work? I hope this doesn't hold Nintendo back from making one.

If that is the case then R.I.P. Wii... The Wii had a strong year 2010 imo, but considering neither Xenoblade, nor Last Story are being localized right now it seems like it's over for that console.

That's not nearly all of them and, no, there were only a couple available at launch.
As for the GCN: Jet and Indigo were available at launch. Purple was never the only color.
New Zelda game.
Also, read the news, Pikmin's not coming to 3DS just yet.

Which is an equivalent of $276. That is (possibly) the minimum price, with retailers making no profit at all.

I'd import but seeing as I got slapped with a £15 customs charge for Etrian Odyssey III on top of game and shipping costs, it'd probably end up being more expensive after just a couple of games.
E: £170 base price is pretty crazy, that's more than the XL retails for. Guess that means no price drops for a long, long time.
Pikmin isn't a critical success for nintendo.
I don't think it not coming to the wii is going to murder the system
I last story will dwefinitely come out here I think they want to see how japan takes to it first .
They have around 10 pre-orders so far, which is enough to make me nervous - especially as they won't be having a midnight lauch for those numbers, so I'd have to take the day off work to ensure I'd be first in the queue.
Which might be a plan...

Tax returns. Seeing demos of games, videos in person, and the game ons and everything word of mouth related that can be expected here or course too, but I swear Nintendo launches handhelds in the spring because they know that a sudden influx of income for people will cause them to buy the cool new shiny toy that they desire.
Of course there are also things like the release of a new Mario Kart to consider. Anyway, I agree with everything you said in that post. While it would obviously be cool if the 3DS was cheaper (or hey, Nintendo should give them all away because they love their customers so much!), its price is really more then fair. This isn't a situation like when the PS3 or iPhone first came out. To me its more like "$250? Oh, okay then." And I guess that while I am excited for it, I don't feel like I absolutely have to buy it at launch too. If circumstances require that I have to wait a few months (which they might) its not the end of the world or anything.
Then I remind myself that I hardly ever play portable games and traded in my DS and my PSP Go is just gathering dust. Though I'm going to Comic Con this year and this would be nice to have.
The Gamestation staff seemed pretty confident that they'd have enough units to cover demand, though, as it isn't a prime location - they apparently had Wiis for a week or so after launch.

Im sure I'll change my mind once that must have game comes out. Just not sure yet which one that would be for me.
Nintendo talks about battery life:

I'm guessing the various times will be similar to DSi. Hopefully this can put all the battery complaints to rest.
