Free games via Club Nintendo:
Nintendo is now allowing players to buy download games for their Wii, DSi, and 3DS via the Club Nintendo website. All first party games, and some third party titles, offer codes that you can enter on the official Nintendo website. Fill out a survey and earn coins (and an additional follow-up survey for extra coins). The coins can buy a variety of posters, cases, and various neat stuff. But the games are where it's at. Every month, Nintendo is offering up four games to download. Here's the current list:
Art Academy: First Semester - 3DS (150 coins)
Mario Party 2 - Wii (150 coins)
Featured Applications:
Nintendo Video: A free download app that randomly adds short 3D movies to watch. Blue Man Group, College Humor, and Dreamworks have all contributed.
SwapNote: A free download app that allows you to send notes, pics, and sound clips to friends via Street Pass or Spot Pass.
Netflix: Link your account to your 3DS to watch (2d) movies on the small screen.
Hulu Plus: Just like Netflix, link your account to watch TV shows on the go.
3D movie recording: Record up to 10 minutes of 3D footage and upload it to youtube.
Game demos: Download demos of upcoming 3DS releases.
System Transfer: Transfer information from an existing DS, DSi, or 3DS to a 3DS. Great for when the inevitable redesign hits the scene.
A full list of additional built-in software can be found on
Nintendo's 3DS site.

Extend that battery life
The 3DS does have a less then optimal battery life, but Nyko has released a battery pack to great reviews. See for yourself if you're interested:
And yes, that Nyko battery review on Joystiq really got me excited:
'll stop with the suspense: does the Power Pak + work? Pretty much! Here are the results of my experiment.
3D on, brightness maximum, wireless on:
Nyko Power Pak +: 5:33
3DS battery: 2:52
3D off, brightness at minimum, Power-Saving on, wireless off:
Nyko Power Pak +: 9:04*
3DS battery: 4:40
*only tested once, because it took nine hours
Plus it doesn't look nearly as bulky as people were saying:

Its good that the previous character limit is back too I've noticed.
Is Pokemon Rumble Blast unworthy of mention in the OP? My kid is picking it up Monday I think, he pre-ordered it.
I'm not a Pokeracist though, I swear!
yeah sure, pal.
... I hadn't heard this before. The above is all my brain saw in your comment. I'm buying the HELL out of this now.
Thanks! I was thinking I should add in more pictures and stuff, but thought against it in the end. Hopefully Nintendo will keep the 3DS goodness coming so the OP can update quite often.

Here's one of the previews.
I still have to play that for my review... blargh. Been preoccupied with Kirby. Marathon time!
Like Mega Man Legends? Then check out my story, Legends of the Halcyon Era - An Adventure in the World of Mega Man Legends on TMMN and AO3!
It was definitely fun in coop and the challenges could get damn hard, but you saw all the game had to offer within a few hours. It was no Mystery Dungeon.

Do a registry somewhere that carries games and register for it!
I now have 4 games for my 3ds, Zelda, Star Fox, Asphalt Urban and Lego Star Wars and I've logged the most time into Lego. It's just so fun and the 3D looks really, really, nice. I think I'll have to pick up the Pirates game at some point.
Asphalt frustrates me - I HATE racing games that only give you 2 or 3 tracks without having to unlock everything else. At least give me half the tracks to start...frame rate is kind of iffy too...but it was cheap. I've got all but three unlocked now but of course Vegas is the track I really want to play and it's still locked.
Does it have a lot of unlockables and let you buy new characters and all that?
This pretty much sums up what I've played so far, except the three or four preset moves; so far, everyone I've used has only one, though you can buy more in town... but those aren't cheap.
Like Mega Man Legends? Then check out my story, Legends of the Halcyon Era - An Adventure in the World of Mega Man Legends on TMMN and AO3!
I hear the main difference between the new game and the Wiiware game is that there's an actual story and sense of progression outside of "collect pokemon until you find one that's at level X then complete a battle royale. Rinse and repeat."
Forgotten. Whoops! Added to the OP!

Yeah, tons of characters from all throughout the series as usual. Even characters like
Of course it will. Just call them up and be sure to deflect any implication that you have dropped it or otherwise damaged it and you'll be fine.
I also hope that one day Nintendo realizes they should make a DOTA/MOBA with Pokemon...

I liked the WiiWare game, so I'm gonna get it. Though be warned that yeah, it does get repetitive if it's anything like the WiiWare game.

You got lucky, my GameStop thinks the street date is tomorrow, so they're holding it hostage until midnight (They're having a Midnight launch for Battlefield 3). Guess I'll just drop in tomorrow.
Do you own Tetris DS? If you already do... maybe get it if you really want more Tetris that badly. If you don't? Go buy that instead, it'll be cheaper and IMO it has better game modes (Push Mode is to die for, and it's playable on Wi-Fi).
EDIT: It might not be much cheaper. Places are still selling it new for $30, GameStop'll rip you off and give it to you for $30 USED. I'd do some homework on the two and see which one you want more, because they have different game modes and whatnot (DS was developed by Nintendo, Tetris Axis is developed by Hudson).
Every site I read on the internet had today as the release date. A little annoying, but oh well.
Does anyone want my copy?
