I wouldn't hold your breath... they're STILL selling the Go at $200...
I've been meaning to pick up a PSP at some point to finally play my small stack of PSP exclusives so I took a quick check at Canadian prices - still $130 for a PSP, but only $170 for a 3DS. I really thought there would be an effort to clear out old tech this close to the Vita launch, but I guess this is Sony we're talking about.
I think that the internet has been for years on the path to creating what is essentially an electronic Necronomicon: A collection of blasphemous unrealities so perverse that to even glimpse at its contents, if but for a moment, is to irrevocably forfeit a portion of your sanity.

but SkullGirls is actually looking to be a good, mechanically sound fighting game
DoA is a pretty solid fighting game as well but isn't free from criticism.
Only picking on SkullGirls because I've seen plenty of attempts to segregate it from exploitation in games. Problem is, gratuitous bouncing titties are gratuitous bouncing titties. Having a woman on the art and asset team doesn't mean it's not sexually exploitative.
I think I've become impervious to the exploitation found in fighting games. Every fighting title is just chock full of bad stereotypes and you just somehow block it out - I think everyone that used to create wrestler characters from the 80's somehow ended up designing fighting games. Evil drunk Russians, Native Americans with tomahawks and headdresses, Bruce Lee guy, giant fat blob guy who attacks with gross body fluids/odors, buxom girls, super bad German guy who's totally not a you-know-what - they're so common in the genre I hardly notice as long as it's a good game.
Put me down as someone embarrased at Skullgirls rudeass titties but not enough to want to experince its high quality gameplay. I would equate it to the higher quality DoA games.
Hasn't boosted hardware sales any, but it's nice to see that my prediction of Gravity Rush being the first big release for the system in Japan is holding true.

I really want the Vita to succeed but damn if Sony is incompetent sometimes.
Sometimes?
When their only strategy is to win by brute force, it kind of means that when they fail to win, they are incompetent. If I have to pull a number out of my ass (Hey! The same way SONY does things!), I'd say they're only successful maybe 50% of the time.

Concur.
I don't particularly care either way. However, "serious gamers on the internet" often do. I just noticed that Skullgirls seemed to be defended more often than, say, DoA.
I like flip phones simply because I can pull them out anywhere without needing to worry about breaking them when I inevitably drop them. My last phone ended up horrifically scratched but still completely functional, and my latest phone is fairly heavy-duty.
When my friend drops their smartphone they're like "Oh no! Now I have to get the screen replaced!"
When I drop my phone I'm like "Oh No! Now I have to bend down and pick it up."
I dropped my smartphne, facedown, on the sidewalk a couple weeks ago. The battery cover popped off to. The screen doesn't have a single scratch on it, the battery cover looks awful.
Nothing wrong with making a game that's basically softcore porn as long as your honest about it, IMO. Things like this or the DOA Vollyball stuff is a lot less bothersome to me compared to "serious" games that cram in weird, out of place sexualization. Kind of how I don't find porn offensive, but am bothered when the female characters in a dramatic TV show are treated as sex objects first and characters second. Even then I think "fanservice" is fine as long as the women are well-rounded characters beyond their sex appeal.
Honestly if I end up not liking this game it's going to be more likely because the gameplay has a good chance of sucking.
Time has been called on the Comics section of the PSP’s PlayStation Store.
Andriasang reports that no additional content will be added to the service after March 15th. The Comics section of PSN will disappear completely from September.
Users will be able to access and download any existing of new comic purchases before the service is terminated. The comic reader app will also remain available until termination.
However, after that point all purchases will become unavailable. Sony has recommended the use of its Media Go software to back up their existing comic purchases.
If I had purchased anything from it, I would be kind of mad.
In other news, none of my fucking D2D games have shown up as available for install on Gamefly's fucking app.
Maybe that Girl Fight game will at least be brutal and violent like the Fight Night or UFC games, I'm talking bruises and deep bloody cuts on the girls faces, chunks of hair missing, broken bones and bruised... *fapfapfapfapfapfapfap*

This is how I feel as well. Skullgirls annoys me because the game looks solid, and thus I was expecting to take it seriously. I play DOA to have some cheap thrills and feel guilty about it later.
Edit - I unironically liked Extreme Beach Volleyball on the oXbox.
The 3G model was just a bad, bad, bad, bad idea and nobody I've spoken to about it is even remotely interested in it.
At best, I have heard things like "Well you can use near and the GPS even if you don't have a data plan, and I'd rather have the 3G and not need it than need the 3G and not have it"
In short, the only people I know even possibly buying the 3G model don't plan to keep a data plan active.
From what I've read, Japan isn't too crazy about the 3G model either.
I thought I'd read recent quotes from Sony that said the 3G model was the better selling one in Japan, though that may have been some sort of weird spin...I'll see if I can find it.

because unlike skullgirls, DoA knows it is shameless sex appeal, hence the two games where you just molest womenplay volleyball
The volleyball in Extreme Beach Volleyball was actually a pretty solid. Extreme Beach 2, on the other hand, is awful in every way.
Yeah. I would've preferred the camera in XBV1 was better. Otherwise, it was more-or-less pretty fun to play. I still wish it was on the BC list for the 360.
GB: You have to convince people on faith that this is going to be a good thing.
SY: Yes. A leap of faith, and extra money. So we’ve found a much higher ratio of sales for the 3G version against the Wi-Fi version for the Japanese launch, because the core gamers tend to opt for the highest model. But we are coming to see more of a one-to-one kind of sell-through in Japan. That’s how, in the US and Europe, we’ve tweaked it a little bit to sweeten the deal for the 3G SKU. Instead of keeping on saying that 3G is good for you, we added some content that people can immediately see the value of, like adding the memory card, adding free game content to download. The hardware is a bit lower now, so they’re willing to try it.

They're saying at launch the sales numbers were in favor of the 3G, but immediately following the launch it evened out.
So in order to try and keep the 3G as the leading SKU, they're adding stuff to it in the Western launches.
Yeah I'm kind of confused there. The sentence after it saying "but," and trying to decipher what that means in context of the first sentence. They expected a higher ratio of sales for 3G, but people are buying in a more 1:1 ratio? That would make sense.
Edit - I unironically liked Extreme Beach Volleyball on the oXbox.
Me too. I still have DoAX2, but I'm afraid to play it lest people on my firendslist think less of me.
People already think I'm scum...
The reason I don't have or play XBV2 is that I've heard they fucked up the game part of it. I'd simply rather not have anything to do with it.
The "butt fight" minigame, and waterslide are kind of lame. Tug o War is ok, imo the volleyball is the same as the first game, only now, you don't have to partner with Lisa all the time. Its kind of funny though, most of my time spent with the game was with poker/blackjack.
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.
I'd be more interested in the Vita if it had TV out or had some sort of reverse remove play. The original PSP has lots of meaty titles, but I don't like playing longer games while on the go.
Same with the 3DS. I'm dissapointed we didn't have a DS Player for the Wii this gen.

That TV was the bane of my existence for like 2 months, wife wanted "a white TV' for our master bedroom and there's literally like 2 of them ever made. Looks like you got the other one.

Another depressing thing about that Girl Fight game - One of the companies responsible bought the rights to the Microprose name.
@maximumzero I'd heard about the PSP having a TV out, but I didn't think it looked good on an HD display. I also didn't know it supported normal playstation controllers. If it does, I just might grab one.

Or if Soul Calibur had chicks from the 1600s with the old styles of clothing and hairy legs and armpits.
Also, Skullgirls gameplay looks pretty solid. With all the pace of MvC and Guilty Gear but with Mike Z at the helm, the game has anti infinites and all those ragequit inducing problems in check.

It's a tricky situation.
To begin with, only the PSP Go supports the Dualshock 3, as it's the only PSP model to have built-in Bluetooth support.
The PSP 3000 and 2000 both support TV-Out via a cable connected to the headphone jack area.
The 3000 supports both 480i and 480p TVs, whereas the 2000 supports only Progressive Scan sets.
Finally, the PSP OS and PSX titles run full-screen, but PSP software isn't scaled, so it's often in a small box on your TV. Some TVs have scaling options to fix this, though not all.
