Skyfall Is The Best Bond Movie Of The Year

I am really REALLY excited about Bond #23. Really after Goldeneye I had lost faith that the series could be done well any longer and had written Bond off. That all changed with Casino Royale (no not the one with Woody Allen) and QoS. I really like Daniel Craig and actually think he is even better than Sean Connery was as Bond. I do like how much they got away from the heavy reliance of gadgets and have yet to bring in Q to the story of this rebooted Bond universe. I also like how it seems to have taken a darker tone than the Bond 1-20 did as well.
....oh and the return of the DB5 as Bond's car is just awesome!
Well, they did almost go bust in between, it was touch and go if this Bond would happen at all for a while. I'm glad it did though, looks like it will be excellent.
I wonder how long it will be before we get to hear the theme song? Casino Royale had a great one, but they really missed the mark with QoS, which is a shame because there are some little riffs in there that show the potential it had On that note (har har) best Bond theme? Goldeneye/License to Kill hands down for me.

I recently watched all the Bonds in sequence, so I'm well up for more 007. I think that Daniel Graig is a good Dalton-esqe Bond, but I imagine he'll lighten up a bit now he's done with his revenge arc.

Dalton was really underrated.
Really, I think pierce has had the weakest run.
Goldeneye was great, but everything else was rubbish.

The worst Bond is Moore, using the metric of "stuff I can most vividly remember from the films". His run seemed to have the highest concentration of stupid compared to a relatively low level of badass.

The only Connery misogyny that really made me uncomfortable was the clinic scene in Thunderball (which also had that ridiculous fast-motion fight on the boat, cementing it as the least good Connery film). I thought that the worst film for portrayal of women was The Man With the Golden Gun, with that fool of a female agent.
Blake it has long been established that even though he is the Australian Bond, Lazenby cannot be defended.
Moore's run is great because it has so much of the absurdity that I love from the Bond films. A View to a Kill is so ridiculous I can't not love it.
While not a Moore film, one of my favourite parts of any Bond film is the entire ending sequence of Thunderball, to give you an idea of my Bond opinions.
Giant Underwater spear-gun and Knife fight which goes even more nuts when sharks get introduced, and then the villain is killed when his goddamned Hydrofoil crashes
Also yesyesyes,
Nothing but Throwing Knives
Slappers only
Final Destination.
Me and my friends, as all teenage nerds did in the late nineties played a lot of goldeneye.
I was reasonable but compared to my friend I very rarely won, but still, it honed some skills.
Any way I was over at some friends that went to a different school. I saw the 64 and suggested the game. Everyone was all, watch out for cameron! He's really good. Anyway I thought something was up when I was the only who didn't turn auto aim off.
It was a free for all, first to twenty.
I died once and the closest next to me had five kills.
It was then decided that I was trying to hussle them. So then it was everyone against me.
Again I questioned their skills when they complained when I demanded that it was to be lasers only.
They didn't realise that a headshot killed in one shot with a laser.

for me it's this scene from goldfinger
i guess they thought it was hot in the sixties but it's too borderline-rapey for me to handle

The countryside shots and Shanghai nightclub/skyscraper stuff is amazing. This is going to be classic Bond.

unless you think horrible camp and misogyny can't be counted as positive attributes in which case yeah Craig is a better Bond
Connery is certainly better at delivering horrible horrible puns

I'm finished! Now to sleep.
He gets a high five
but he does look a bit old
Thinking about it, nearly all action heroes these days seem a bit old
strange
Not that I'm complaining, but I expected MGM to have a faster turn around than that. I'm glad this one took a bit longer.

Today's action heroes are a tougher, more grizzled breed. Gone is the day of the 20 year old pretty boy who can murder a small armies worth of goons.
Kinda like it this way
I prefer license to ill personally.

Even Moore's run was, while stupid, was fun.

Lazenby sounds like he's an actor pretending to be Bond every time he delivers a line.
Which I mean is true but not what you should be going for.
Anyway who wants to come over and play some Slappers Only mode on my old Nintendo 64, cause now I am in the mood.

it's mostly the misogyny
Embarrassing secret: When I was mocking Dalton, above? I was thinking of Lazenby.
Season's greetings, Satan!
Because this scene is incredible.

Him and Felix save the world high five, Felix gets killed and bond goes on a revenge rage.
Amazing.

the first half of that movie is so good because it establishes so well the kinds of things bond does without actually explaining shit
it just shows you, this is how bond works, this is what he does, he's very good at it
then the second half has a tank with a flamethrower
Hydrofoil just booking it across the water, every view out the windows of the helm-cockpit-bridge place going fucking nuts.
I Love Thunderball.
Crouching, shorter than everyone, chopping away
fucker

I won the round again 20-4.
Then I wasn't allowed to play any more.

Which is tacitly also admitting that I've owned a James Bond theme songs album since high school.
