This is up there as one of my favorite video game ad campaigns ever. So fun to watch, and hilarious, and yet I can't tear my eyes away. They really got into it.
(It also made me want to try this sometime maybe...but uh...I didn't say that)

They're ripping the shit out of that video on youtube with the dudes who fight in the medieval clothing.
The "Lightning Bolt, Lightning Bolt", comes from that video.

I remember that video, but I seriously doubt he was pulling on that. Most of them LARPed before so I'm sure they've played D&D or some other RPG out that involves casting "lightning bolt".
I really loved the epid battle and the interviews and what not much more then the individual battles.
Mmmm... Cocks... on

I'll be honest, I larped twice before. The first time I loved it because it was a bunch of us newbs getting together and wailing on each other with foam swords and throwing foam balls at each other. Who wouldn't love that? The second time though I larped with a bunch of people who did nothing but get bogged down in the rules for like 4 hours, and played for 2. It got annoying and really left a bad taste in my mouth, but this rules lite version looks like it might be fun to try out. I'm always looking for an excuse to dress like an ass and beat people without being concerned with "rules".
I can tell you that, if you watch Darkon (or even the trailer), and then watch Rules of War > General Rules, you will notice a similarity between the leader of Laconia and the dude playing the Barbarian King here.
OH god.
EDIT: Oh man...he even mentions it in Characters > Barbarian King.

I have seen SGA, and actual stage swordfighting (and even some real, dangerous stuff!).. It's really quite thrilling, and really fun looking. The padded stuff is there obviously to keep someone from dying, but that doesn't stop people from going all out with it.
In Montreal there's a whole bunch of people who do this using the same rule system every Sunday when weather permits, they're famous. They get a lot of kids involved two, 12-year olds are out there hacking away. Looks like good fun, though I haven't tried it yet.

Nontheless, they still don't need to make the padding look crappy.

I'll take this kind of advertising campaign over crappy rapping anyday. At least this one is pretty open about being a viral campaign.

Sure they do. Think about it. Kids are going to emulate this, sooner or later, and they don't want to make the weapons look like anything that could potentially hurt someone. Last thing they need is Jack Thompson to show up alleging that some kids saw this site and then made weapons out of sharpened video-games and put out their eyes or something equally stupid.
Ahaha. It has already probably been said but watch Barbarian King versus Medusa all the way through. He nails her in the face and she drops like a stone. When she gets up at the end she is wipping the blood off her upper lip and a guy in the backgournd say, how many teeth are you missing now?

She checks her nose as she gets up. Hahaha
The Perfect way to start the morning.

It sure was epic.
EDIT: Nevermind, I'm dumb.

run a trace route and it ends up on their host.
very odd . . .
All the larpers I've known did nothing of the kind.
EDIT: Oh, and american larping weapons are crap. British ones actually look like swords.
I told him it was like cosplay, but even more retarded.
I stand by that statement.
Sooo sooooon for the game too, this is awesome intertubes advertizing.
