Almost certainly bullshit, but we'll find out for sure in eight hours. I'm trying to remain skeptical as possible, but a tiny glimmer of excitement has been ignited in me; just by imagining how I'd react if it were to happen.
Also, Valve has got to be trolling us. You can JUST BARELY make out a shape that looks like vaguely like a HL3 symbol. Obviously it's just noise, but someone at Valve had to look at that and go "Hmm, that looks kinda like a HL3 symbol"
If that turns red on Wednesday, then it'll be on track to turn orange on Friday too.
Like I said earlier, Laidlaw said these announcements are Steam related, so I highly expect we won't see any game announcement on Friday and that the dude above is full of shit.
That looks more like a 4 inside the star than a lamba or a 3.

Yeah, it's from one of those things that amounted to nothing awhile back. Alledgedly somebody snapped some pics of a Valve employee wearing a HL3 shirt (pictured) but nothing came of it and it was likely faked.

I remain cautiously optimistic. Maybe not now, but I sincerely hope they find the drive to at least conclude the arc we were on.
Given the way they've talked about how games get made (I think this was touched on in Portal 2 The Final Hours), all it might take is the right person or people having the right idea at the right time...
First they came for the Muslims, and we said NOT TODAY, MOTHERFUCKER!
I'm pretty sure they're working on HL3 in some capacity right now. The issue lies in what exactly do they want to accomplish with the game. HL2 went through a lot of iterations before they even knew where they wanted to go with it. It took even longer to refine that vision into something resembling what we have today.
Valve likely isn't interested in putting out a game just to put out a game (otherwise I'm guessing we would have just had a mission pack style Episode 3 already.). They'll want to push some envelopes; and thankfully I'm not Valve because I'm not sure what envelopes there are to push that are feasible to push in the singleplayer FPS space. And even then, how far can you push before it stops being Half-Life?
So yeah, I'm pretty sure Valve is working on HL3; but I'm not sure if they're past the stage where they're trying to figure out what HL3 is going to be. I'm also guessing that's why L4D3 has been showing up so much in leaks; I can easily see places to improve that formulae. Not so much with Half-Life.

Beta sounds cool. I love me a good beta. But it requires at least 10 peeps on my friends list. You all. Y'all.
Friend me up, yo.
Also, I guess there's a steam group for the thread? I've never joined it, since I didn't want to seem like a golddigger during sales, but that'd be cool too. Edit: Whoops, I'm thinking of the [Steam] thread. Sorry.
so VR support got added to Half-Life Source, but you can see your player model, and when you look up and down with the mouse his position pivots at the feet, so you're often stuck look at the back of gordon's head.
at one point, i was messing with something in the anomalous materials lab, and a scientist said something, so i turned around to look at him and found myself nose to nose with gordon freeman, like an inch from my face. i jumped and was like HOLY FUCK GORDON DON'T SNEAK UP ON ME LIKE THAT
I was just about ask that, actually: Did the original Half-Life ever get released for OS X? I've never played it, but I bought it when it was 99 cents for it's 10th anniversary (or whatever the occasion was) way back when.
Okay, so earlier I said I saw an accidental 3 in the Sun picture; apparently I'm not the only one.
NOTE: This is not an endorsement or statement about the upcoming announcement on Friday; I just thought it was funny that there was, IMO, a very noticable 3 in that sun picture.
I'm pretty sure we're just getting a gamepad announcement tomorrow.
There would be so many "Hold my beer and watch this shit" moments I'd have people believing L4D was HL3, but it was in a different part of the universe and the result of genetic experimentation.
Fuck, I'd have em believing Garrys Mod was the game where you are the G Man and everything you do is a result of his omnipotence.

I did some looking into this picture and I think you're right.

But nobody cares about HL:S DM, so let's talk speculation.
We're about seven weeks away from Half-Life's 15th anniversary. Now, earlier in the year, I would have taken a bet that Valve would announce something Half-Life related on that day (be it a reborn Episode 3, or Half-Life 3, or something.) Having seen a few internal leaks though, I'm pretty skeptical that will happen now.
Still, I think Valve will do SOMETHING for the Anniversary. They recently knocked out a bunch of kicks from Half-Life and Half-Life 2, though they still need some work. I doubt they have any special editions cooked up though. They're not going to announce a new game.. Perhaps they're working with the Black Mesa guys to get the title up on Steam by then, with some bug fixes and gameplay tweaks and maybe those extended levels added.
Anywho, I really hope they do SOMETHING. Beyond having an obligatory steam sale (get the Half-Life franchise for only 15% of the normal cost, maybe? $6 is a pretty good deal, and not unreasonable, all things considered) of course.
EDIT: The Black Mesa guys are apparently under an NDA by Valve, and have said they're pushing to get a the next release out. Even if it's not a Valve planned thing, I could totally see them releasing it in time for the anniversary.

That looks more like a 4 inside the star than a lamba or a 3.
All Steam games will support 3 Players.
Looks kind of like it says 31 to me.

I still say it totally looks like an accidental 3.
It's also obvious it doesn't resemble something more than it resembles anything else.
I see you've changed your avatar

What if, for development purposes, they label all Half-Life 3 files as Left 4 Dead 3?
That way even if there's a leak (and there was), people won't think too much about it?
Like I said, crazy!

I do not understand
how can you add support for one game to another game?

Half-Life: Source runs as a HL2 mod now that they've moved away from the old file system. Ep1, Ep2 and Lost Coast also runs as mods, essentially.
oh, cool
