    It's really tough to use

Unless you know the part numbers by heart I mean

The trick is to keep a Bricklink window open and look up the inventory of a set you know has the piece you want to use, that'll have the part number. Eventually you'll learn the categories though.

I wish they'd make some really big architecture sets. Those look really cool, but they're tiny.

I wish they made a larger version of the Trevi Fountain, the small one does not do it justice.

The medium Fallingwater and Farnsworth are both really nice though.

oh yeah it was a lifesaver for me

it's a bit fiddly, but if you're building something relatively basic you won't have a problem

I'd argue that I had zero problems finding what I needed, but then again I really only needed about 12 different kinds of bricks, so that did make things easier

and I figured out early on how to use the groups/templates functions in the program, which saved SO MUCH TIME; if you need help just PM me!

also I didn't think I'd need to follow the instructions once it came time for assembly, but trust me - if you used the LDD to put something specific together and bought the parts that it listed, you'll want to follow the instructions

The Mobile Frame Zero is that mini lego game someone linked sometime ago?
How does it play and how long does it take?
Does it also require access to a lego store or stockpile?

    It is! Rules are free!

I haven't had a chance to play it myself but it has a big focus on rapid, dynamic play and player counts over two.

I am getting into it with a friend currently owning zero legos but havind some would definitrly help.

They are working on a space vessel version called alpha bandit that should require less pieces, and less specific pieces.

I mean, yeah, it was partially so I could post it before Stale‌ built his and posted first and because I needed an analog activity while I'm backing my PC up but it was still a metric ton of fun building LEGO again. It's been at least 12 years or so but it's amazing how you fall right back into dividing up your pieces into small and large, rare and common. there's an astonishing amount of thought and detail put into this model in-particular. It really makes you realize what goes into designing a piece like this. Making a '59 Cadillac out of mostly-rectangular blocks is the quest of a madman for sure but they pulled it off.

Thank you again for the wonderful gift. It shall join my other GB toys.

Also seriously. lego.com also become a Vip so you get points and discounts on stuff you buy.

Tomorrow I will order the Detective's office. I will get double points and a free flower cart.

Once I get it I'm going to take note of all the pieces that make up the second floor (1st floor in the UK). The. I'll price out how much it'll cost to buy the main pieces to add a duplicate story it looks really good with an extra one in there.

After Lego's website exploding at midnight till afternoon I finally got my Detective's Office ordered.

I also stopped by Toys r Us today and got the new AT-DP walker, which is from the new Star Wars: Rebels cartoon. It is pretty nice. The vehicle is correctly scaled to the minifigures so it actually fits the correct crew in the correct arrangements. However it is nearly as tall as the Lego AT-AT and makes the AT-AT's lack of size really apparent.

I will now attempt to not purchase any more Lego sets until we see what the $300 Avengers Helicarrier looks like.

This year is looking really good though. You got a solid line of new Star Wars Lego, Avengers 2 sets, and the reincarnation of the original Lego Pirate sets with the blue coated imperial soldiers and everything! Not to mention another wave of agents, some nice City vehicles, a bunch of licensed race cars, and a Simpson's Kwik E Mart.

I'll second the advice to sign up to be a lego VIP. The store is usually the same, if not significantly cheaper than Amazon, plus you get reward dollars as you buy. Totally worth it.

I love that coffee table! Got it from ikea forever ago on the cheap and it has held up like a champ.

I played my first test game of mobile frame zero with my friend today! Here is our battle report:

My army, the Purple People Eaters:
    bzAaBVt.jpg

Consisting of Long Con, the artillery specialist:
    EmsBxah.jpg

Heat Riser, the dual flame thrower wielding speedster:
    zH26eaE.jpg

    And Spybot, the team spotter:
    qwaCVZ8.jpg

Up against my friends creatively named Test Team #1:
    4FLwHVs.jpg

With the long range death dealing Total Not Metal Gear:
    M7XAqgU.jpg

    The armored melee assassin Scorpo-Bot:
    24Fp1d4.jpg

And the rather aptly named We need to buy more Legos, who was possibly the surprise MVP with her consistently high spotting rolls:
    oZVsb8Q.jpg

Here we have initial set up:
    uyWxFS6.jpg

First blood goes to Heat Riser knocking the armor plating clean off of Scorpobot:
    mVDVqlV.jpg

Though Not Metal Gear answered with swift reprisal, blasting through Spybot's cover and blowing off his sensor tail:
    LhuFCYg.jpg

Spybot snuck behind Scorpobot and blasted again, stripping him of his movement and one attack system:
    7gXtgX1.jpg

A few other ineffectual things happened, and in the next turn Metal Gear again took a chunk out of Spybot:
    V8DHg9I.jpg

The next turn saw Heat Riser making a big charge forward to outflank Running Out of Parts, but only managed to destroy her movement and guns, leaving both of her sensor pods intact. A 6 spot rolled followed up by a well placed shot in the back from Metal Gear saw him going down from full to just one flamethrower left:
    Ckk0ezA.jpg

The death dealer in question and his fortress of pain!
    H36NO6G.jpg

Next turn saw another great spot and attack combination, and Spybot got his torso removed from his legs:
    AqmaWa2.jpg

Getting jealous, Scorpobot ran up and bludgeoned Long Con into the ground
    3jBtihT.jpg

But not before Long Con took a long distance shot at Metal Gear to finally silence his big guns with the result of!
    bjNqCOQ.jpg

    Nothing but cover, boo!

At this point I had one frame left with only one system, and had lost both of my stations to my opponent, with only 2 left on the doomsday clock we called it there. The aftermath:
    GUdPY6k.jpg

I had a blast playing the game, really looking forward to getting some more pieces, building up my forces, and playing again. Really, really looking forward to trying a game with 3 or more players, as it was fun with two but it sounds super fun at three. I still have a lot of information from the game to process, rules to re-read and internalize, etc. Spotting is a lot stronger than I initially guessed, doubling up on weapons systems isn't quite as strong as I thought it would be. Melee is better than I predicted, etc. But over all man I just had a blast. Just how tactile the game is in terms of blowing up cover and blowing pieces off of people's mechs is a joy.

I've never been good at building things from scratch. I'm much better at taking an existing model and modifying it. Yesterday I modified the head of my Imperial AT-AT to fit in two pilots with Veers standing behind them.

The best thing I ever scratch built was a fairly detailed minifig scale interior of a Starfleet ship. I had the bridge and various hallways connecting to a transporter room and other areas. I made decals and turned a bunch of red torso figures into Wrath of Kahn style Starfleet guys. I play the hell out of that. This was a while ago though.

Yeah you can see two of the new Stormtrooper battle packs in my photo. I like it. The vehicle actually feels solid and acts as a good small troop transport.

Usually the brick built thing you get in the battle packs are super bad and throw away because people are really just buying those for the figures.

So following some really good examples online I ended up picking up four more wiz-wuz sets from my local lego store and built myself a full blown playing force.

We've got Semi, the all purpose soldier build:
    lHmd4Vy.jpg
I movement system, 1 spotting system, 1 direct fire system, 1 defensive system, 1 one shot rocket

There is the long range support unit, Osuzumebachi:
    X0WKcFE.jpg
2 spotting systems, 1 artillery system, 1 defensive system

Then we have our fast movement close range death dealer, Mukade:
    ZOHYjIr.jpg
2 movement systems, 1 melee system, 1 defensive system, 1 one shot rocket

Electronic Warfare unit with a ECM/ECCM focus, Kuwagata
    XkSFyqF.jpg
2 defensive systems, 1 melee system, 1 spotting system

    Command and control unit, Jyuubachi
    u9ME9XV.jpg
2 spotting systems, 1 direct fire system, 1 defensive system, 1 one shot rocket

    And the whole gang together!

I just bought a second one from bricklink for $40 minus the figures which i already had. It came still in the plastic bags, just some had been sliced open to get the minifig pieces. I do not regret this at all since I love that set and now they can fight each other in SHIELD V Hyrda battles!!
