It's still raining and there's nothing more depressing than dumping water out then only see the level rise.

Oh no, it's just that it's raining faster than I can drain the water, and screw that.

At least the rain is nice to listen to to go to sleep

I was surprised my basement didn't get flooded. Living at the bottom of a hill sucks when these storms hit. My uncle unfortunately wasn't so lucky. He was telling me the basement flooded, he lost his Fios box, the power went out and I think he said he has no gas or heat.

Update for anyone who cares! Been up since 6:40 and the water was at about 10 inches or so. Been working until now and it's ALMOST gone down three quarters of an inch! Hooray!

Also all the stores are sold out of pumps. BIG SURPRISE

I hate floods and fires and I hope nothing ever wrecks my house and all the cool stuff I have in it, like my cats and comic books.
It's easy to avoid (smaller) floods

Big hurricanes still pose a bit of a problem to houses on stilts though.

Alternatively, build your house somewhere that isn't prone to flooding.

UPDATE! OH, MOST JOYOUS OF UPDATES!

    WE HAVE A PUMP! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Just had a nice, hot bath. Have discovered that my fingers and hands really hurt. They're all red and achy from the top part of my palm up. Soooo nice to sit down, nice and dry and warm <3

It is down to a few inches! I had to disconnect the pump for a bit because it was overheating, but the water is mostly gone :D

Unfortunately, now we have to sort through the damaged stuff, but it should be relatively easy to just toss it all.

    I'm guessing nothing valuable then.

That's awesome to hear. I live in a one story house near the cost in Florida. Hurricanes annoy the shit out of me.

Yeah, luckily the outer part of our basement is where we keep our useless crap. It will certainly be much less cluttered now :V

I just wish my fingers would stop hurting! D:
