Basically: "Nope, you don't get to be a smokescale. Going to GTFO. Here you go... sit out for a while."

    EDIT: From the video poster:
By it's nature, Unrelenting Assault, once casted, sticks to chosen primary target till it's visible. You stick like glue, your target can travel to Africa and within 2 seconds when this skill is hitting, you will follow it.
What the Mesmer did is he placed Portal on mid, went to far and once I casted Sword #3, he ported me with himself back to mid. Then he made sure my skill has finished and ported back to far himself.
That left me on mid, far away from point and he capped it. Totally not expected, it's a first time I've seen such creative play outside of theorycrafting.

    PVP Leagues!

    https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/the-pvp-league-begins-on-december-1/

And stuff on the PVP Legendary Backpiece!

I'm gonna do what I always do which is just do my Dailies solo in Ranked and not worry about shit. /shrug

*e* Though if people want to team up for the Guild stuff I'm game.

~Anyway~ this also means a patch tomorrow, so we'll see if anything gets fixed.

    That is an amazing-looking backpiece.

    But, PvP. :/

I'd be down for doing a team based on "whenever we're on at the same time lets sPVP"

Mainly I necro roam or far bunker guard, but willing to learn other roles. Except Mesmer or Thief because I'm the most terrible at those.

Finally, got Herta, so now I can slowly combat my bloodstone dust problem on stack a day. Maybe in about two weeks, I'll have ti to a manageable number of stacks. Then I can look into culling the runes in my bank down to stuff that is worth a damn. I'm pretty sure I have some legendary ones that are garbage (I suspect the ones of Teq might be trash).

I think at this point, I'll work on HoT masteries until I either get tired of trying to raise my mastery levels or hit a similar point, to what I have hit in Tyria, where all my mastery gain options are PitA.

In other news, I did put together a meta raid build and I'm pleased to find that it works well in open world content. I was afraid it would be too fragile to anything outside of raids.

    That is an amazing-looking backpiece.

    But, PvP. :/

It DOES say you don't have to be THE BEST OF THE BEST EVAR to get it, it'll just take a while.

If you like, you can PVP with me if we're on at the same time (maybe I will have another bad bout of insomnia, who knows) and @SuperRuper .

Or you can do Fractals instead.

Personally? I don't like Fractals, but I do casual scrub PVP like, constantly, so a PVP backpiece is a lot more appealing.

I want to get into a sPvP squad. I generally just do it solo for the daily then quit it for the day, but getting wrecked by a premade is never fun. I want to be on the other end of that.

well here is a quick primer

there be two modes: conquest and stronghold.

    CONQUEST

There are 3 capture points on the ground. You want those points. You do not want the other team to have points. You get the points by standing on them when nobody on the other team is around. As your team holds the capture points, your team gets points. First team to 500 wins.

Biggest Thing: Fight other people ON POINTS. If somebody is hassling you on the way to a point, avoid them / dodge stuff until you get to the point.

    General terminology:

    > Home / Near: The capture point nearest to spawn
    > Mid: The capture point in the middle of the map
    > Far: The capture point furthest away from spawn / nearest to the enemy spawn

Each Conquest map has a specific gimmick to it. Some maps are easier / more fun to fight in than others. When a match is about to begin, everyone in queue will get to vote on which map to pick, and then a randomizer will spin. More picks means a higher chance of getting that map, though sometimes the spinner lands on a map that only one person has picked.

Here's a quick rundown on each one, plus how much everyone will hate you if you pick the map, in order of "This map is a favorite" to "Everyone will want to take your kidneys and beat you with cane rods."
    Forest of Niflhel

Gimmick: There's two NPCs on the map that spawn every 3 minutes. Killing one gives +25 points and +50 to all stats for your team for a few minutes. It can be a good strategy to gank the opposing team's NPC, but be careful.

Will anyone hate you: This map is a huge favorite and one of the most solid, simple sPvP maps out there! Always a solid choice.

    Legacy of the Foefire

Gimmick: Each team has a Guild Lord who is super tough. Killing the enemy team's Guild Lord gives you 150 points. This map is very similar to old GW1 PVP maps. Generally, it is a super terrible plan to try for Guild Lord until your team is at or near 300 points or better; trying before this means that half or more of your team will be busy, letting the enemy team gleefully ignore you and cap all the points on the map and rapidly rack up more points than you, which will lead to them kicking your ass.

Will anyone hate you: Nope! This map is probably the second favorite. It's bigger and a little harder to manage than Forest, but it's got solid mechanics and a nice layout.

    Temple of the Silent Storm

Gimmick: Points of power spawn periodically on this map; channeling them gives your team certain boons. These are:

Meditation on Ferocity: +3 points per each kill
Meditation on Stillness: Doubles your points per captured point on the map. This meditation spawns at 11:30, 8:30, 5:30, and 2:30 on the match countdown timer. THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT THING TO CHANNEL AND CAN MAKE OR BREAK MATCHES.
Meditation on Tranquility: Gives your team ALL POINTS ON THE MAP. THIS IS STUPID IMPORTANT TO GET. Spawns at 8:30 and 2:30. If grabbed in conjunction with Stillness, can win you the match.

Will anyone hate you: Probably not. This map isn't as well loved as the previous two, but it's not completely terrible and can be a fun change of scenery.

    Battle of Kyhlo

Gimmick: Each team has a trebuchet. It's a treb. Treb people. You don't always want somebody on the treb 100% of the time because that's one less warm body to help cap points, but the treb is very good at annoying the shit out of the other team when your team is capping a point (if you're good at treb aiming). The other team can blow up your treb. If this happens, you can get a repair kit to fix said treb.

Will people hate you: They may hate you a little. While the map has a great layout, people generally dislike the trebuchet mechanic.

    Spirit Watch

Gimmick: There's a football orb. Bringing the orb to capture points will earn your team points. If your team owns the point, you'll get 30 points. If not, you'll get 15, but the area will be immediately decapped.

Will people hate you: Yes, but not a huge amount. The orb is a very annoying mechanic that nobody likes.

    Skyhammer

Gimmick: There's a bunch. The biggest is the Skyhammer itself, a bigass laser that you can attune to your team and then shoot people with in a huge radius for massive damage. The laser is accessible by Asura Gate and sits way up on top of a floating platform above the battlefield.

There's also jump pads that launch you up on top of structures, which you can use to escape enemy players or just get higher ground.

Finally, there's transluscent sections of the ground that periodically disappear, sending you plummeting to your death. The map on a whole is on a high cliff, with the capture points very close to the edges, so it's super easy to launch/shove/push/whatever people off cliffs to their deaths. Finally, the Skyhammer itself is on a very narrow platform high above the battlefield, riddled with disappearing floor panels, so it's VERY EASY to accidentally dodge off the edge while trying to defend yourself.

Will people hate you: HOLY FUCK DO NOT FUCKING PICK THIS MAP I WILL RIP OUT YOUR EYES AND MAKE YOU EAT THEm. FUCK. FUCK THIS ENTIRE FUCKING MAP. FUCK THE SHITASS DISAPPEARING FLOOR MECHANICS, THE GIANT FUCK YOU LASER, THE... eVERYTHING. fUCK THIS GODDAMN PIECE OF SHIT FUCKING MAP JESUS CHRIST

... In short, yes. Everyone will hate you, forever, if you pick this fucking map. Also, you will go to hell, where you will be forced to play on this fucking map for eternity against a bunch of Scrappers and Hammer Warriors loaded with nothing but launches and pushes, and you will have no Stability ever and no launches of your own. Fuck you.

    Stronghold

Stronghold is a more complicated game mode, but there's only one map, the Battle of Champion's Dusk.

    https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Battle_of_Champion's_Dusk

Each team has a Guild Lord that they must protect. Each Guild Lord is behind two doors. In order to break doors, you must use Door Breakers. However, Door Breakers have no defenses, and will be easily killed by enemy Guard NPCs. You either have to kill those NPCs yourself, or summon Archers to deal with them.

You use Supply to summon both Archers and Door Breakers. Supply spawns in the middle of the map. You have to channel to pick up supply. If you kill an enemy player who has Supply, you can pick up that Supply. You can carry, at most, two Supply at a time.

Every so often, Mist Essence appears that lets you summon a Hero. Each Hero has unique, special powers, and is a powerful NPC ally. You get one, Turai Ossa, a tank, automatically, and must get the others by doing Reward Tracks. The Hero will run down the lane towards the doors, and will try to make their way to the enemy Guild Lord. They are tough and generally do a lot of damage.

There's also Trebuchets on each lane but people don't use those much as they're a pain to aim. They exist, though!

Killing the Guild Lord wins you the game automatically. The Lord has a phase where they are downed and must be dunked for a kill (or, well, their downed state whittled down). With that said, you CAN win a match on points alone, so long as your Guild Lord isn't dead.

How to stay sane in sPvP

Turn off Map Chat and /say entirely. ONLY listen to players in Team chat if they are A. Giving specific, non-insulting advice/instructions on what to do (eg, "I'm going to Mid," "Thief, can you get off point and gank the engineer heading home?," "Help @ Far, have 3 on me") or B. Being nice (eg, "Gl,HF" [good luck, have fun], "Nice kill," etc). If they are a dick in any way, shape, or form, block them immediately. If the enemy team starts whispering you, block them immediately. Ignore any bullshit talk of that sort and just assume that the person saying it is a complete lowlife in real life and not worth your time, because they are.

With that said, if a player is giving non-insulting / rude advice, DO listen. For instance, "Hey, I think your build may be better for PVE. Have you considered putting X on your bar?" or "Guys please, please stop fighting off point" or "Objective! We need the objective NOW!" which that last one is a little intense but isn't exactly mean. Even if a strategy is wrong, it is generally better to just go with the group flow and stick to a given plan instead of being a grumbly lone wolf trying to push whatever you're doing.

    Builds n shit

Metabattle is helpful. In general, it is better to go for tankier, more survivable builds with a lot of CC and shutdown than the usual ~lawl zerker~ strategy, because everyone has evades and does a lot of damage, so by the time you start your burst combo you're usually dead. It's better to have ways to survive people's initial assaults so you can outlast them than to be like OMG ALL TEH DAMGn.

Right now, here's some general builds/strategies that are The Business:

    > Scrapper Engineer: lots of possibilities here. use Sneak Gyro for ultimate trolling bullshit. Remember to use your combo fields: Hammer 3 can both annoy your enemies with the 3 hit Daze from the lightning field on Hammer 5, and it can also save your life with some heals from whatever water field you have available.
    > Daredevil Thief: YOU CAN'T HIT THESE FUCKERS OMFG >| they have so much chase. Jesus.
    > Reaper Necro: they won't fucking die
    > Reaper Necro Minion Master Style: they won't fucking die, and they have forty billion friends
    > Druid: they also won't fucking die, and they have a lot of lasers
    > Dragonhunter: i heard u liek putting a billion traps on every cap point :V
    > Bunker Guardian: i heard u leik just not taking damage n shit
    > Revenant: shit I still don't know how these fuckers even work man jesus all those goddamn boons
    > Mesmers: holy shit. really hard to play but. damn. mesmers man.

Right now Turret Engies are just straight up not viable anymore (which is sad, I loved bunker turret), Elementalists are not the kings of damage anymore due to... uh, everything else, also they don't have enough sustain to burst down a Reaper, Druid, or Dragonhunter (Tho I do still play a Staff Ele in sPvP). Warriors... are terrible at sPvP. Like, really just. Nope. Y'all have other places to be. But well nobody's stopping you if that's your best class and you wanna do stuff, I just don't know how to make a good warrior (maybe a berserker with a lot of CC? idk)

That writeup is awesome! Thanks for putting that together.

Is gear important? I thought I saw something about PvP gear being different and I saw a menu pop up when Sharkey grabbed a few of us to go into a match and while I was looking the match started and OMG death.

All gear stats are standardized. On the "PVP Build" button at the top of the screen you'll choose an amulet that is what your stats are based off of e.g. Soldier Amulet gives 1200 Power 900 Tough 900 Vit. You'll also choose which runes and sigils you use for your equipment using this panel. There's also a tab for your PVP specific traits you'll use during matches. For most of these is costs nothing to use them, though there are some runes/sigils/amulets that you have to unlock to use (Sigils 3g, Runes 5g, Amulets 10g).

Theres a boxed set, but its kinda expensive. What you want is to find a good deal on "Guild Wars Platinum Edition" Which contains Guild Wars Prophecies(the original campaign) and Guild Wars: Eye of the North (Which is the one you need for gw2 bonuses to carry over)

Once you get that set, you can either find cheap deals on Guild Wars Factions and Guild Wars Nightfall, or pick up the Guild Wars Trilogy, which is Prophecies, Nightfall, and Factions.

Or you could find factions and pay for GW:Eye of the North, but that is usually more expensive than just the platinum bundle.

Edit: You can get enough points for all the skins with JUST the platinum bundle.

Also, just started reading up on the requirements for Ad Infinitum.

Um... Wow. Guess I'll just keep on joining fractals and worry about specifics when I get close to it.

The Dark Energy looks scary, since they come from salvaging ascended non-rings (and only have a 100% chance drop from weapons and armor) but after the first two, you'll get all the Dark Energy need for the next step when you salvage the backpiece you crafted for the previous one (in fact, I think you end up with a spare after Unbound, which will probably come into play for Ad Infinitum when they add the final step for that.)

The matrices you need to make them stabilized are the real sink, since you're probably only getting 3-5 a day from fractal dailies unless you decide to salvage rings (1g per salvage tool) or buy them off the TP (at 43s each) Otherwise, compared to, say, Legendary weapon precursor crafting, the mats require to make Unbound is stupid cheap.

Well, I'm a couple karma trips and some mining tours away from Research, which is step one of crafting the HOPE precursor, and takes:

    10 Spiritwood Planks
10 Elonian Leather Squares (which have skyrocketed in price from their pre-HoT levels)
    15 Deldrimor Steel Ingots

...and that isn't even the most expensive step to just getting the precursor (the next one is)

So my view on the mat requirements for Finite Result (which I've already crafted for myself) might be a bit different from yours :P

The leaks follow both CDI talks (year old) very closely. Those ideas were brought up by devs; regardless of gvg hardons. So I dunno.

Can i say the leaker has flair going by E?

    Going back to GW1?

For heroes, I just picked Hero builds that looked nice on PvX and used them. Remember you can Copy + Paste the template code so you don't have to constantly alt-tab between the page and the game.

As for yourself for monks and Dervishes... Easy Dervish build is spamming Pious Renewal for teardowns, preferably with Aura of Holy Might up. For Monk, if you're soloing, then I'd make a smiting build with Ray of Judgement as your elite, that's what I've found to be the most fun if I'm not playing main healer.

the only major miss was fractal leader-boards, which i bet you was a technical issue.

I will say this.... this is make or break for me. Raiding/gmish is all thats sustaining me and its only been out a month or so.....

a "Leak" from someone who had a decent reputation for being correct about leaks. Information about wuvwuv, nothing guaranteed, take EVERYTHING with a grain of salt.

No. i take it with all the salt. those are bad.

edit - because you would have to join another guild to even get in WvW. yes you can join 5. not the point. Lets say until i see final stuffs I'm extremely skeptical based on their previous wvw efforts.

I'm fairly certain that -if this is as accurate as Corrigan says it could be- that the final version is going to be changed to "at least" 3 Guilds per alliance, with the player cap being the real limiter.

...and actually it's the player cap that concerns me the most. If there is going to be a hard cap to how many players can be fielded for one side for the entire week, is there going to be a place for a casual wuver like me, who wuvs for probably 30 minutes a day on average to flip a couple camps, and typically only on 4-5 days at most? (granted, atm it has to do more with current wuv populations not being enough to do anything more on the times I'm usually on, but still...) Not to mention it doesn't quite solve the problem that the best way to win is and has always been Pvdooring at 3am. Is having an Oceanic guild in the alliance that can do that going to be a must in order to be competitive? Or is there some new thing that the poster didn't mention that will make that less ideal than it is now? (pleasenewscoringsystempleasenewscoringsystempleasenewscoringsystem)

Otherwise, most of the non-Alliance things mentioned sound really good. More tournaments, new rewards, and a new ranking system that will hopefully mean we aren't fighting the same two teams for months on end.

The info hes posted before, while mostly correct, is usually what they "Want" to do, but not what always ends up happening. So like I said, its very possible that this is the basis of what they started out wanting, but there is NO GUARANTEE that any of what was posted will be even remotely close to what ends up coming out.

Read through it, see if its interesting, see what is cool or completely ridiculous, then set it aside until we hear something concrete. Never take "leaks" serious, even if they tend to be correct from that guy. What we are told, and what we get, are usually two completely different things.

Welp, Fractal rewards haven't been buffed yet. /shrug

However, the Gerent now gives Chak eggs even when it fails, and other bosses in TD also give eggs. \

*e* Crystalline Ore has been removed from the cost of Basic Decorations

50 silver is still a bit much, but that's way more reasonable. Also, the Guild Trader now ALWAYS sells Resonating Slivers for 1 Commendation, so that gives us another source of those things.

Better rewards for the VB bosses as well, which should keep people trying for T4 night even if the first defense went a little iffy. Don't know how many attempts I've made that could have succeeded but failed because everyone abandoned the map when the first 10 minutes went bad (I know this happens, because I almost left a map after a bad first defense that actually hit T4) Kinda disappointed that there is nothing about the Nuhoch Lane of the Chak Garent event possibly scaling to the point where it becomes literally impossible to complete though.

...and Resonating slivers can be bought from the Guild Trader!

*edit* also, on the Wuv side, no more earning Hero points for your alts by earning notaries on your main and banking them. Walls shouldn't be stacking on each other and have boulders pass through them. Also Heavy supply bags now drop again! ...and they've gotten rid of the grace pierod on waypoints during defenses, for realsies this time.

Well, the alliance idea has been bantered about a lot, often in comparison to ESO. But I'd say the numbers proposed are way off. 300 is not enough for coverage. Unless the new plan is to have time slotted alliances, and the maps are only open during primetime for a particular region/timezone range.

I could possibly see making special wuv guilds - ie something outside of the standard 5 pve guilds you can be part of. Essentially, there is the Ft Aspenwood guild/alliance.

Devon Carter replies later down, but what he's calling BS on is not quite clear, whether its the specific number or if all the info is suspect. I think he is intentionally not specific in that regard.

Yeah, the more I look at this, the more that I think that

    1. It's probably more talking about ESO style alliances, with possibly ESO style campaigns as well, and that the 3-guild number is a minimum.
    2. Similarly, I think the 300 number may actually be an alliance minimum, not a maximum.

This would, in turn, mean we'd be moving away from specific, named servers entirely, and just have a big fat megaserver like ESO.

Awesome! Also, hubris behind the spoiler:
THIS WAS ALL ME! I started the Great Internet Chair Riot of '15!

    Also,
Heavy supply bags now have a chance to drop in WvW maps.

Two things about this are awesome:
    -Price will come down
-WvW will for awhile at least have a profit machine!

    Along with:
Significantly increased the number of Proofs of Heroics awarded from Chests of the Mists.
Slightly increased the number of Memories of Battle awarded from Chests of the Mists.
    That's nice, although...
Fixed a bug in which players were able to spend items that had been soulbound to another character at vendors.
There goes your chance to earn Proof of Heroics on your main and spend them on your alt!

Loot bags received in Magus Falls now indicate if they are affected by magic find.
*eyebulge* I did not know that was a thing.
Several boss events in Tangled Depths have had their rewards improved, and they now have a chance to give chak eggs.
Oh good, now people will actually DO this.
Added an admin list to custom-arena customization.
Does this mean we can have multiple admins for our guild arena? That's awesome!

The Resonating Sliver at the Trader is irrelevant apart from the fact it will increase supply if you want to buy from the AH.

If you were to do 10 guild missions every week for a year, you would have accumulated enough Slivers for 1/9th of levelling Scribe to 400, before considering decorations only available at 400 that you might want to make for your Guild Hall.

Slivers are only as low as they are because 99% of the playerbase bailed on Scribing as soon as they saw how nuts it was. That's not even including the Pigment issue.

Sliver income from missions would need to go up 20-40x for it to be a reasonable profession.

Scribing is still in a dreadful state, and unlike WvW, which is actually a very complex problem, there's no excuse for it.

...and of course, as always, Kill Hitler.
