Some sections look distinctly darker hued than they were to begin with
when you shrink them the warp threads tighten up and you have less show-through from the weft. gives it a darker cast overall, particularly notable in the spots that face less erosion--shins, under cuffs, and so on
or maybe the initial photos were in different light than the later ones and changed the color balance
first one can also be true to some degree, but tends to be very temporary. indigo doesn't adhere to stuff very well without some help. lighting isn't too far different, i don't think...it was actually snowing in the "new" pictures so if anything it might have been a bit darker out that day. the current photos were taken on a sunny day but in full shade.
i'd say both pairs of photos are fairly accurate but for full disclosure i know fuck-all about photography
Thanks everyone. I just used purple, magenta, and blue dye over my hair which was already a faded purple/burgundy. I really like how it turned out.
And I still have dye on my hands lol. (Even though I did use gloves!)

I feel ya. I help Mrs Moon dye her hair but the flimsy little gloves that come with the color aren't really intended for big hands, so they always rip between the thumb and forefinger.
