Spending time between here in North Jersey, and down on Long Beach Island on the shore. Love it down there.
But when I'm home, the day is usually sleep in, get some breakfast or lunch, watch a movie (or a Mystery Science Theater episode), go out for a run/do some weight lifting, watch the Mets' game, or make plans to go out with friends/dates.
...I'm usually pretty damn lazy this time of year.
I'm also taking a "telecourse" this year to freshen up on some US History. It's one of my favorite subjects, but I want to get back on the ball after a few years of focusing on music.
That said, now that I graduated from Rutgers, its time for job searching. Think I might end up teaching, so the nice part will be that I won't be losing my summers any time soon, hopefully.
I spend most of my summer reading, watching old movies, hanging out with friends and every couple years I visit Trinidad and Guyana. I usually lose track of time a few weeks in so get taken by surprise when its over.
I have a friend who always goes for Panorama. I'm thinking of taking a trip next summer to Tobago. Anywhere you would recommend?
Man I really want to go back to Wildwood Shore in New Jersey. The boardwalk'ing and ocean swimming was one of my favorite things of the summer. I haven't been there for 3 years.
Instead, I'm going to:
-work my clinical engineering job with a passion
-take my physics class and revel in knowing everything already
-start fencing again (not until late July though)
-go rock climbing once a week like I used to
-hang out with my friends who are staying here over the summer
-catch up on my gaming backlog (M&M WoX, GalCiv2, Silent Storm)
-do some research into buying a motor scooter for autumn
-see if that crazy-intense-but-brief workout actually works when I try it
...And maybe I'll still be alive by the time summer ends!
Doing some teaching in Senegal for a few months, then just gonna bum around with some English people in West Africa for a bit. A friend of mine worked at a refugee camp in Ghana for a while, and he might put me in contact with them.
What I wouldn't do to be in your shoes . . .
I got a chance to do some stuff like that three years ago. It was hard, but great.
For the first time in over 13 years this is the longest time I have had off
I am bored
So it seems between painting my 40k army, looking for a job and playing Wow, Paired with my rather odd sleeping habits.
I will have to find something to do than go stir crazy in the middle of the summer
Take heart in the fact that millions of other kids are probaly as bored as you! Especially in times with a crappy mall and crappy laser tag!
Heh, I remember I was watching this special on WW2. One part was about what this British kid was doing right when the first V1 rocket hit Britain. He was pushing blocks of colored wood around the bath tub. That was his entertainment. We are so spoiled.
Speaking of lasertag, maybe I should pick up paintball again this summer. It's basically a better form of laser tag.
Subleting in Brooklyn with friends; working 10-5 M-Th in Manhattan, the rest of the time engaging in flaming hipster debauchery and going to free concerts

Yeah, I got a 360, but unless Mass Effect comes out soon, I've got nothing to play on it. By the time all the good games come out, you guessed it, I'll be school. In fact Medal of Honor Airborne comes out the same day school starts back up.
I'm mostly doing odd jobs outside for my dad, writing daily and reading well into the...er, morning, as it turns out. Never been one for jobs with wages - I never need the money.
I'm interning full time and reading like crazy, since I didn't read at all for the past year. Also, catching up with my game backlog and movies.
That's been the upside to being out of school this past year - the first time in 17 years - a lot more time to read. It was no problem years ago, but in university you're too occupied with the stuff they make you read.
I'll spend more time than I like doing multiple summer assignments (damn you AP classes) and I plan to try and learn how to program in python. Also, like others have said, gaming backlog (Twilight Princess, FFXII, and Super Paper Mario mainly). Maybe I can find some time to actually go outside, we'll see.
Man, I think I've got lots and lots of potential vacation time that I could use this summer and fall, and yet I won't be taking it because it costs too much damn money to be going places that I'm interested in, plus my friends either don't get any vacation time off, or don't have enough money to join me.

Learn an instrument, pick up a sport, go on a trip, read a book. I dunno.
If your bored during your free time it's generally your own fault. So just do something new.

It's not that I'm bored per se, it's just that the 360 doesn't have any new games coming out any time soon. Maybe I should look into some summer sports. Maybe football. If I try hard enough I can make the team next year, hah.
Chilling in maryland, drinking mead, reading books, swimming and biking and having fiery discussions of topics of import over Warsteiner in chilled pint glasses.
Will be learning how to shoot one of these days.
My summers are never over ambitious, although this year I am taking correspondence courses to speed up my time in college. Human geography and Jewish history until the spanish expulsion, ho!
Also refreshing my Arabic and perhaps looking to purchase a Rosetta stone for Farsi.
Planning on taking a pilgrimage to jerusalem, although that may (read: probably) be delayed until spring. Has anyone gone?

Wow, thanks man. I had no idea about the McCarren Pool Parties or the River to River festival. I think there's a free concert I want to go to literally every free weekend I have for the rest of summer.
I'm interning full time and reading like crazy, since I didn't read at all for the past year. Also, catching up with my game backlog and movies.

Tell me about it. I'm devouring books of my choosing this summer pending my return to higher education.
I just graduated. So before I begin my journey to attain a Culinary Arts degree, I'm going to party until I don't feel hardy.
I know a guy who wants to attain a Culinary arts degree. Just doesn't have the money to pay for it.
That sucks.
Tell him that the best advice I can give him is pay the 200 dollars to get his ServSafe degree, then go to some sort of diner and learn the ropes of running a grill and a fryer. after that he can move on to being some sort of line cook in a more upper class restaurant where he'll have the money to go to school to become a certified chef.
It's pretty universal, at least here in the US that summer vacation begins in mid-Mayish for alot of college students, and beginning/middle of June for Elementary and High School.
Usually school starts up again in late August or early September.
Are all school holidays three months long, or is that just for college aged students?
In the K-12 system I remember getting out in late June and going back in September, so a little over two months off. In University you're usually out and free by May - so four months or more.
Also, my friend is apparently chartering a yacht and taking us all to Bermuda for a week in the middle of the summer... no cost on my end. Basically: sweet.
Well, so far, this has been the most boring summer ever. I still haven't found a job, even though I'm waiting for a call back from one place. I've been mostly hanging around the house occasionly going to the mall or to the park. I can't wait to get back to school. Just one more month. Last summer seemed to go by quick for some reason. Maybe because I had a lot of games to play like Nexus War and more things were going on.

I was thinking about taking a trip to Europe or Greece, but eh, I probably don't have enough vacation time and I don't really feel like going any more. I might still try to schedule a late dive trip, but even that's looking doubtful. A fair bit of my gear needs replacing, and I am frugal.
This has been one of my best summers ever. First 2 months I half assedly looked for a job, and didn't really find anything, (in the meantime I sat around and played games and hung out with my friends and went swimming in pools and stuff like that). Then my neighbor gave me a job randomly because she knew I was looking for one, and it pays well, though I am doing very random stuff... So I worked for like a week and half...
Then my awesome friend took me and 7 other friends to Bermuda and we stayed on his dad's yacht for a week and fished, and scuba'd, and wakeboarded, and went to the beach, and went out at night, and ate good food.
Then I came back home and had surgery to fix my nose, which was kind of sucky, but now I can breathe like a normal person, so yay. Recovered for like a week, and now I'm back at work (though I need to be super careful of my nose).
I'm kind of sad to go back to school, even though I get to see all my friends who live far away again, but I like my friends from home and I like summer and I like not doing school work.
Also, I want to get scuba certified, that stuff was fun as hell.

SCUBA diving is a blast. Cozumel has been my favorite so far, and it's a really short trip for me. I don't know if I'll ever make it to the Pacific for some diving.

With like five family members and my sister's boyfriend.
I get like 120 hours of vacation a year, but I have to save some of it for weddings and junk. Also I want money really badly.
Goddamn that workout routine must make monsters.

I need to read, and I'd like to get into sketching a bit every day. But, let's face it: I spend way too much time on various forums.
