    Richy, this is what you do. Train some spies, sabotage other civs' bases, and frame the other civs for the sabotage. If they don't declare war on each other, they'll at least break up their pacts.

    Can I actually control culture takeovers in Civ4? I mean, I know I can build culture buildings and increase culture spending, but I thought that after that it was just a slow random process that chips away at the border until their border cities start revolting.

    Aldo: Have Jaheria learn the insect swarm spell(there's two the higher level one that spreads). It will utterly wreck their spellcasters.

    That's as much control as you have. I think you can look at the stats of cities on the borders (enemy cities) and see what the culture is doing to them, but i'm not sure. It's been a while since i played Civ 4 (but damn if that wasn't an awesome game).

    It's not random, no, each city (unless you've screwed it up) gains a fixed amount of culture each turn.

    I loved the quotes for the different tech research also.

    University and Gaians were the only ones i could ever rock with though.

    I agree. Perhaps we should share knowledge and cooperate against that awful Sister Miriam? Have a couple of my special peacekeeeping planet busters to use on her while you're at it - just remember who loves you when the next election comes up.

    Windspear Hills is a tougher quest for early on yeah. The party battles are the best part of the game tho :)

    Also spam hold person and magic missile. And use every bless/prayer/haste type spell before you get in the fight.

    I loved starting next to the money guys (yellow, don't know the name of the faction) cause they were a pushover and you could steal all their moneys.
