Bethesda's FO3 teaster page has been updated. 34 days until the game gets a trailer.

New concept art is up, and a streaming bit of music (which I'd assume is the theme/title track of the game).

    http://fallout.bethsoft.com/

edit: Craig Mullins did some (all?) of the concept art for this game.

Meh, Van Buren feels like a NWN mod. Is it's engine unique to VB or is it the same one used in NWN?

    Playing it just feels...wrong.

Pretty sure it was a new engine Black Isle made to use for Baldur's Gate III, and then when that was cancelled they used it for FO3... then that was cancelled

Living on the east coast (actually a stone's throw away from Bethesda themselves) and looking at that concept art . . . wow.

Looks like a perfect rendition of what would happen if you took the border between civilization and Appalachia and then replaced everything with radiation.

I'm infinitely more excited for this trailer than the GTA countdown trailer. I'm just hoping we see what kind of gameplay they will be going with. Whether its the original isometric turn based style or something new, I trust Bethesda. I mean, EA could have gotten the rights...Fallout 3Extreme, featuring a soundtrack by fallout boy! The fact they are intent making system shock 3 is terrifying...but that's another topic.

Probably because they didn't get a chance to implement turn based combat.

Because it's a teaser, it's doubtful there'll be gameplay. Probably a CG movie. But there will be immediately, or soon after a media storm unveiling of the game, you can be sure.

AFAIK the only playable part that they had was a tech demo that was shown to the board of directors of Interplay a couple of weeks before BIS was shut down. It was basically what appears on the screenshots and video I posted in the last page. As for it appearing to the general public some day, well NMA has gotten design docs, screenshots and even a video which shouldn´t be available to the public, so I guess it is possible but I wouldn´t hold my breath waiting for it...

I really like how less than 24 hours after I posted that they made the tech demo available...

And yay for a teaser, at least it shall give an impression on the direction Bethesda is taking the game...:D

I've always thought it would be sweet if they released a toolset or SDK for whatever engine it is that Fallout uses or maybe there is one and i'm just retarded.

either way, fallout user created content?

or the ability to create standalone games using that engine?

tell me that wouldnt be fucking sweet.

They released a tool for FO2 a while ago. The fans haven't done much with it...

Heh, I remember a mod that cut half the content in FO2 and called it a "fix".

I'm more interested in what the TES community will come up with if Beth releases tools for FO like the TES kit, which I'm sure they will.

    "Too epic" ...

Anyone remember that scene in Fight Club, where the recruits are out on the porch and the newest member is berrating the guys waiting to get in? He looks the guy up and down and can't find a thing wrong with him, gets frustrated and yells "You're too.... BLOND!"

I imagine this is similar in context.

It's really short, and clearly an alpha, but it was fun to kill the dude that was escorting you, take his armor and minigun, and waste every NPC you could find.

So, Fallout Tactics ... I dunno. It's just so goddamn arduous. Like, every fucking level is a marathon of killing and scavenging and killing and scavenging and killing - it goes on and on. How many times can I kill a fucking giant cockroach before it gets boring? Am I the only one who feels this way? Because, seriously, I don't think I can keep playing. It feels like work.

I usually spend most of my time thinking up interesting ways to kill the sleeping guards I run across such as overdosing them on afterburner or stealing remote explosives into a whole groups pockets then detonating...

It's a different style and genre of game and even in the tactical strategy genre it was a bit different. And unfortunately, the tactical strategy genre can get repetitive and monotonous at times for some people. It may just not be the game for you, simple as that.

Tactics has some really cool missions (the attack on the raider fort early on, the first Super Mutant one, defending the Ghoul town from the super mutants), but yeah, it can get pretty repetitive. That mission where you have to get the fusion batteries from the base filled with bugs makes me want to uninstall the game and burn the CDs. But the good missions are REALLY good, so it kind of balances out.
