maybe it's just that everything about the GI Joe movie that I've seen looks so incredibly cheesy and I wasn't really prepared for that to be the case even though if I'd thought about it for three seconds it would have been a very obvious possibility

Rocky Balboa (yeah, that guy) appeared in the GIJoe Order-of-Battle limited series comics (basically a set of dossiers for all of the Joe members and significant Cobra forces,) but was later retracted as a joke.
Also, Sgt. Slaughter DNA was used only in the cartoon incarnation of Serpentor, but not in the comics.

Snake Eyes did some flips and that was pretty cool

I remember reading that issue in the comic series and him robbing tombs for the DNA he needed.
Fun Fact: Not only did he have the DNA of the greatest military minds from history, but they also infused him with some Storm Shadow.

So many great episodes.
I think i liked the one with the trained cobra rats (THEY STOLE STUFF) and the two-parter with the hallucinations best.
