So apparently, Hamid Karzai just got declared the winner by default after Abdullah Abdullah pulled out of the run-off.

"Although the process was messy, I'm pleased to say that the final outcome was determined in accordance with Afghan law," Obama said.

The US has pretty much accepted and endorsed a government that was elected by unadulterated fraud, assuming that a somewhat stable corrupt government is better than trying to make things legitimate.
No one on any American news station is really saying anything about it.
Does anyone else find this even moderately fucked?

Dear satan I wish for this or maybe some of this....oh and I'm a medium or a large.
people were complaining about how afghanistan was a bad idea and it was bush's mistake and whatnot
entirely forgetting that IRAQ was bush's thing and that afghanistan actually attacked us
y'know, 9/11, never forget, that whole business?
god, I hate this country sometimes
Dear satan I wish for this or maybe some of this....oh and I'm a medium or a large.
The man so nice they named him twice
Uh-oh I accidentally deleted my signature. Uh-oh!!
pretty much
it's kinda depressing
:^:
Anyhow, nuke em or build a big ass fence around them and northern Pakistan. Iran I bet will globalize eventually, but forget those other two nuthouses. Or alternatively, get China to deal with them.
didn't the Taliban support Al-Qaeda?
edit: to clarify I am not trying to say "afghanistan attacked us"
Uh-oh I accidentally deleted my signature. Uh-oh!!
Then again, I'm probably biased because I think American foreign policy for the last 50+ years has been spurred by guilt over being late to WWI and WWII. To make up for it, they are trying to start WWIII so nobody can bad mouth them after the fact.
Isn't it?
taliban supporting al-qaeda =/= taliban attacking the US
In the state in which I live, revisionist history is the only history. I work with a dude who calls rap and hip/hop music "Obama music" but than insists his dislike of Obama has nothing to do with race. LOL okay duder
nah, violence in the streets from another election would totally be better
yeah and it's hideously corrupt
It's just, my line of reasoning (which could be wrong):
al-qaeda attacking the US
al-qaeda residing at the time in Afghanistan
ruling group of Afghanistan supporting al-qaeda
So going into Afghanistan seemed like the right thing to do to me. Again, I am not saying Afghanistan attacked the US.
Uh-oh I accidentally deleted my signature. Uh-oh!!
mostly just go wtf though
not willing to make that distinction
that was pretty much the US government's line of reasoning that most people still find acceptable
the taliban hates al-qaeda but they supported each other as a matter of convenience IIRC
o_O
why was there a runoff when it appears karzai won an absolute majority in the first election?
I really can't get involved in this discussion but I can say for sure that I am with Ranx 100% on this post
