I've always tried to hold your typical American relationship, and it just doesn't seem to work for me. It works well in the short term I can hold it together for maybe two years, but then it starts to slip. I know it sounds silly but I put "nomadic" in my title for a reason.

I have absolutely no problem staying with a person for a lengthy amount of time, it's holding to a certain lifestyle.

I should get a new photo at some point.

Hi! My name is gaming and I like gaming and I gaming gaming gaming gaming

    I agree with this assessment.

Clearly, the solution is to have a less one-dimensional personality.

Man, it is hard to write a profile that is not self-depreciating.
I am, if anything, a man of passion - which, to put it somewhat less grandiosely, basically just means that when I find something I like I tend to burn it at both ends until I get absolutely sick of it, which could take anywhere from days to years depending on the particular subject. When I find a book or a movie I really enjoy I tend to spend a good few hours afterward just hunting down every bit of interesting trivia I can find on it.

    Thoughts, anyone?

unless you actually talk like this when you are hanging out with friends I'd drop a heap of adjectives and just say what you mean without embellishment

    i.e.

"I know what I like, and I am passionate about what I like. Sometimes I burn out on it because I get so into it. When I find a book or a movie I really enjoy I tend to spend a good few hours afterward just hunting down every bit of interesting trivia I can find on it."

I actually do talk like that - but let me give trimming down a shot.
I am a man of passion - to put less pretentiously, just means that, when I find something I like, I tend to burn it at both ends until I get absolutely sick of it, however long that takes. I have a habit of wasting a few hours just hunting down random trivia for any movie or book I particularly like.

    Better?

If I had the power to conjure up any kind of companion for myself right now,

I'd conjure up a lady who would catch my eye by her distinctiveness, and would be able to hold any conversation with me. I've always had to adapt to the lady, and I'm done with that. It doesn't work.

I always thought I'd have to meet someone who's into games on some level, but the girl I've liked most recently(who was engaged[to a jerk no less]) had only one thing in common with me: she was a BT fan. As long as there's something, I guess it's enough.

I am with you on this, and it is actually exactly what the article I mentioned earlier was talking about

dating now is not even about attracting someone with a certain kind of trait

it's become about attracting ANYONE AT ALL

that is, making your online profile or presenting yourself on a date as being as eligible and normal and blah blah generically decent traits as possible... only showing off what is "socially acceptable" or things that people are "supposed" to like in someone they are dating

RATHER THAN firing from the hip with all the unique things about yourself with no care as to how you will be judged because this way you know that if anyone responds positively to what you have written or what you have said, they are going to be someone worth spending the time to get to know
