Actually bacon usually never responds to me either and ND usually never responds unless you wait for 20 thousand years
ND actually blocked me so I can't see if she's online.
I am sending you a PM in regards to this, again, because you insist on bringing it up, and publicly.
I have already told you why I did this - you IM'd me way too frequently, even after I told you that it was too much for me to keep up with, and was distracting me from working sometimes (I stay online and "away" half the time, so that I may be easily reached if somebody needs to get ahold of me while I'm working, and/or leave a quick message, and/or if somebody I haven't heard from in a very long time happens to sign on). You really need to stop beating yourself up about this - I have hardly been on AIM at ALL these past few months, because my non-internet life has been completely taking over. I can recall having maybe three or four "longer" conversations with people during that time. I have really been absent from the AIM's. You have not been missing anything, I assure you.
Edit: Also, just call her on the phone and when she answers you scream "LISTEN SALLY [disregard real name], IT'S HIGH TIME WE SEE EACH OTHER AGAIN. I'LL PICK YOU UP ON THE JETSKI AT 1630, BE PREPARED FOR DINNER AND WHALE HUNTING."
THIS.

edit: Buck, have you lost weight recently? At first your body can try to stay at what it sees as its "normal weight"
I lost 13 lbs but that was back between August and September. Then I put most of it back on again. I'd like to re-lose it.
I miss the weight I was at during my Junior year of college. That was the only time in my life where I wasn't severely underweight, or overweight like I am now. I weighed 95lbs Freshman year of college, and by Junior year I was around 145-150lbs.

The first one is far more likely. I've been wanting to get out and go walking in the woods, since there's tons of it here, but between the snow, and the rain the water tables are super high, and everything is flooded. The only other place to go walking is around the industrial park I live in, but that's pretty...depressing. Plus the sidewalks are still covered by snow.
I miss city living. Walking around Boston in the snow and rain was fun.

I'd personally suggest using a machine at the gym though, one with less impact on your feet/knees than actual running. And the indoor climate would likely be much better for your lungs during actual exercise.

I've tried running before...it never ends well. I really hate it to be honest, which sucks because I know that its one of the better, easier ways to shed weight. I've been thinking of taking it up again though, just to see. Unfortunately I can't afford a gym membership, so Napp's idea is right out.
Maybe I'll go to the warehouse tomorrow and dig out my weights, and start lifting a little. It won't help me lose any weight, but at least it'll help keep my arms from turning into jelly. Plus it'll suck up a good 15 minutes of boredom each day.
In other news, remember how I said I stopped drinking beer so that I could start to lose weight? I've even tried to stop snacking, and shit. Well somehow over the past week I've managed to gain weight. What the fuck is wrong with my body?
that's probably that "starvation mode" they talk about. Essentially, you're storing up fat because of the lack of calories. Keep at it and your body will get used to your new intake.
Count your calories, eat plenty of healthy foods. Work out regularly, and you'll start to see steady improvement.
And walking isn't bad. Actually, anything that burns calories at all is good. Except maybe trying to digest lots of food.
Personally I find running to be much more rewarding than using a machine like an elyptical or bike, even despite the stress it puts on your body. I find it's a good way to keep your routine on track, because once you've finished half your run, you really have no choice but to finish the run back.
And if you invest in a good pair of shoes (ie not tennis shoes) and practice proper running techniques you can
minimize joint stress pretty easily

On a side note, I bought ace combat 6.
On one hand, I love flying a jet around and wrecking stuff.
On the other, the cutscene and in-game dialog is horrible. Someone says something about "dance with the angels" in like every line. I want to travel to the writer's house, ring his doorbell, and then when he answers, just scream in his face "I GET IT ALREADY" and then leave without any kind of explanation.
With regard to combatting starvation mode during weightloss, a trainer friend of mine suggested doing a brief routine of squats and crunches and things before every meal to trick your body into believing it needs to burn the calories you're about to consume rather than store them.

normally, I'm not a big fan of BMI, because you're usually not within the right range if you're in either really good or really bad shape, and the problem is that too many of the latter think they're the former.
I like a much simpler test: If you're out of breath from trying to tie your shoes, you should probably lose some weight.
Not that anyone brought up BMI, I just wanted to mention that.

I've regained the weight I lost when I got sick in Japan. Woot-woot! 120lbs!!!

Eat fast food right before bed.
With that in mind, I suppose gaining heart problems is easy too.

So i definately need a hair cut...
should I stick with my tried and true due? Like so?
(never mind the beard in that one... 10 days into No Shave November. Stupidest month long contest ever.)
I want to try something different but I have no idea what my hair is good for.

I like Ace Combat, but yeah the cutscenes are UGH. They need to just make them over the top Top Gun with a bunch of flyboy jocks, none of this lovey dovey anti-war poop. There's enough of that to go around.
Also, Uncharted and Uncharted 2 are really good, especially 2. The dialog is so fantastic.

To whomever this advice applies - be sure to get your gait analysed so you know whether you overpronate or supinate and get the right shoes to support you.
My wife runs competitively (has had quite a few top 10 finishes) and is currently training to run a marathon!
I don't have the patience for that, so I'm just running when I have the time and will be entering my first 10k race in a few months.

Yeah, gameplay-wise, the only thing I could ask for of an ace combat game is "more big stuff to kill"
I'll look into the Uncharted games as soon as I have a ps3. I have the feeling my xbox is going to red ring eventually and I might just avoid that fiasco by trading it in. That, and I want a blu-ray player.

Napp - That looks like a fine hairdo to me. I'm hesitant when it comes to experimenting with my own hair. I imagine a lot of people are.
I'm still not digging my real short hair. I'm just waiting for it to grow out a few more inches, then it'll go back to looking like it did two years ago.
With that in mind, I suppose gaining heart problems is easy too.
I do this all the time and I have never weighed a pound over 130.
I'm 127 lbs now.
It is practically impossible for me to gain weight, I've tried. Don't mock me and tell me it's easy!
I used to be like that. Then I suddenly gained 30 pounds in 6 months.
If it happened to me it could happen to you! Dun Dun Dunnnnn
@buck: thanks! I guess for now I'll stick with it since I haven't gotten any ideas and I'd rather have something I know looks pretty good instead of getting stuck with some weird monstrosity that just doesn't work.
Napp, while not exactly the same, you look close enough to Mars Elliot that if he ever commits a serious crime in your general region, you should expect to be hauled in by the police for a line-up.
I used to go to a fancy ass 100$ per haircut salon but they kept doing crazyshit so I went to the like 10$ mastercuts place and they do a fucking awesome job and LISTEN TO ME so, Napp, don't always think more expensive is better. (Also, bitches love scars)
I can't believe I haven't played Uncharted 2 yet, jeeze, should do that.
theres this place i got to that is a super long wait. The place that is closer doesnt cut my hair as well since I can't really communicate that well with the lady.
still going there tomorrow to get a cut though. It gets decent enough.

The scar is my secret :P
I usually pay 20-30 for a haircut with the guy I go to. I started off much cheaper but the place he works for keeps upping all of their fees, even he's not happy about it. But I no one before him has cut my hair as nice and he's a genuinely cool dude... I just tend to only get my hair cut 3-4 times a year to offset the costs.
But if a local mastercut type place should be good enough its only 10 bucks...

I don't. I only have one pair, other than my combat-shit-kicker-boots. Worn the same ones since grade 8. They are velcro.
I wouldn't worry too much Buck, whether or not you're losing weight, you're healthier.
