CG: PERFECT FOR WHAT, FLEXING YOUR FORMIDABLE MENTAL HANDICAP LIKE A FUCKING HEAVYWEIGHT FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL MINUTES?
CG: OH WAIT, LET ME CHECK, THE ANSWER IS YES.
The thing about the trolls with me is that I don't really know how much we're supposed to trust what they say, though I struggle to think of any instances where they've actively lied to or tricked the kids other than when they got John killed.*
All we currently know is that some action the in the kids' game session may have some effect on what happens in the trolls' game session. The trolls say this screws over both groups, but how?
I guess what I'm saying is that I generally take a lot of what the trolls say with a grain of salt.
*: Also John getting killed showed us an alternate reality of what happens in the game without John and Jade in the medium, as Dave says how they can't win without them. So we know they're necessary for winning.
We've getting getting a lot of surprisingly clear exposition lately.
Also, I'm gonna guess that the big "4/13" flash will be the start of the meteor swarm.
I think it's mainly because he stopped taking so many user sugesstions. Compare this chapter with Chapter 2. There's a lot of downtime, just wandering around. Hilarious of course, but not really plot advancing.

Pretty sure he hasn't been taking much suggestions at all from the get go.
He kind of established that, beyond a few pointless moments of fun that click with what he already had in mind, like the whole "Be the Mayor" section of WV's introduction, the story has been pretty much all his own doing from the get go.
Also, the beginning chapters were still showing us the introduction of the four kids.
We didn't even know who Jade was until act 3.
Since that section got finished, the story has moved a lot faster. THat's pretty much how most big stories work.

Two things come to mind that I'm curious about and am sure are bubbling at the back of AH's skull
GC says that she plans to stay pissed at them forever while appearing helpful. That she will be helpful is
an immutable fact that she is stating for the record.
secondly: Dave and Rose are never able to contact the trolls again after GC indirectly offs John.

Your first statement seems a little contradictory? "While appearing helpful" implies a certain amount of insincerity in my mind.
The second statement is something I forgot about. Makes me wonder why John dying would also affect the trolls, unless that happening broke a time loop or some such.

Nope! It seems unbelievable, but he creates this story with extraordinary spontaneity. It only looks like he plans things out way in advance partially due to retroactive foreshadowing, like with mention of Jade's pet early in the story which we don't see until way later, the movies John loves which end up having parallels to the story, like the old Sassacre book that ends up being a time-looping item. It's not hard to do, actually. Just have a bunch of items/concepts/places/people/conversations strewn about throughout the story and revisit them as necessary, elevating them in importance as it is appropriate. It looks impressive from the standpoint of the readers.
Not to belittle how difficult being spontaneous actually is. About a week before Davesprite was created, I asked Andrew what Dave's sprite is going to be and he said he didn't know (though he might have been lying to me). The whole concept of the Medium, meteors Skaia, planets etc, were inspired by John's movies and were not planned early in Homestuck. The Trolls didn't come into being until later on as well. It's crazy having these concepts pop up very soon before they're used and yet he doesn't write himself into a corner.
Andrew is planning more things these days, but I imagine that they're more like milestones and it's still a fluid process how the story arrives at each one. And even then, if Homestuck's progression doesn't quite fit in with something planned in advance, it'll be scrapped.
Well, I didn't mean to imply that he didn't get ideas from the fanbase. He's obviously been getting some creative source from the forums at least (and I've seen him himself admit that sometimes he'd just go along with certain popular ideas people were suggesting, just for the fun of it). I just was under the impression that he just didn't directly follow the fans' suggestions input as to what the characters actually do (Except when it suited his goals), and mostly stuck to a vague plan while figuring out the smaller details as he went along.
It'd be downright insane if he planned out all of this from the very start.
eyes, everytime you've mentioned that. hm. I think you're reading way too much into it. I'm thinking AH knew what was up with davesprite and replied "I don't know" to you because well. Spoilers.

Also appearifying Serenity the firefly out of the ambergrist was a suggestion.
Yeah, I'm sure a lot of the superfluous stuff that is just for fun and doesn't actually have any bearing on the the plot is heavily influenced by the fans.
I mean, there's just too much random shit going on in there for one man to think it all up.

Who knows. But I had just handed him the Cal plush and I figured I would ask him for a spoiler while his defenses were down! Also, the moment Future Dave appeared, people on the mspa forums were jokingly saying that he should be prototyped, and perhaps that's where the idea came from. But you're right, I don't have any concrete evidence that Davesprite wasn't planned some time in advance.
Five pages late, but that wouldn't get you banned.
You goose.
edit: probably the only thing that'll get anyone straight-up banned is depicting actual explicit pornographic acts involving a minor or non-consenting participant.
The terrifying thing is that people have very nearly crossed that line.

There's something that John or Jade does that fucks everything up for everybody. If they get offed before that happens, then they're no longer in the timeline where the Trolls are fucked over and so they are no longer trolling the kids.
My guess is that Jade's "penpal" was herself from the future, after she enters the Medium. Future-Jade gives past-Jade the box containing the SOMETHING that Jack Noir used to kill the Queen. If, however, John gets killed and Jade never makes it to the Medium, then she never sends the package back to herself to be intercepted by Jack Noir and so he never kills the Queen and so the whole mess isn't started. Furthermore, without him, the Mutinous Cabal doesn't take off and so the manuscript of MEOWs is meaningless.
Of course, this creates some discontinuities in the timeline, most notably that the package would never have arrived and it contradicts the earlier panel (where, you know, it DID arrive). Another issue is that Bec might not have ever been created... but he exists partially outside the normal timeline (like their dream selves) so that could be ignored, I guess. Really, I would be surprised if there was a fully-consistent explanation seeing as the two timelines had to have SOME difference or they wouldn't be, you know, different.
I've listened to Showtime (Imp Strife Remix) like 40 bazillion times today
I still need to work more on my Mario Paint arrangement of that.
The original mix turned out pretty dandy, but I just can't seem to get into the mood to work with the program much these days. Guess I kinda burnt out on it.

Tsk! Then I'm not trying hard enough. You know how much I like to straddle the line.
The reckoning just means that meteors start falling towards skaia. We don't really know how long it takes to arrive, or how long it is before the really big ones start launching.
It's up to Andrew. The time left, for all we know, could be anything from really quick, to Freiza.
It seems like we're pretty close to the end-game, which sort of surprised me.
It does,
but I've always assumed we had around a year of Homestuck left. I figure we were going to slam right into this big disaster and spend the remainder in the aftermath.
oh stupid theory I wanted to throw out there that's probably wrong. trolls are influencing the kids session. the same way dave affects rose's session. the kids will be able to talk to a third session, the same way rose affects john's session. this third sessionw ill effect a fourth session, the fourthw ill affect another one, etc, etc, etc
I'm going to demand that my autobiography not be published until at least a century after my death, guaranteeing that at most 1 person will read it
We should all write autobiographies right now and leave them to our ancestors to publish a century from now. They will be read because people love reading honest accounts of how people in the past lived.

That clears things up a little bit.
Correct. All we know is that Jade's present is the catalyst.
