Actually what it means is only 30% of his gear has enchants appropriate to his detected role. Same with gemming (I think).

So if you have PvP enchants when you're in a dungeon, they don't count towards being 'enchanted'. Similarly, if it detects you as being a tank and you have DPS oriented enchants on your gear, those don't count towards being appropriately enchanted.

I downloaded Elitist Group fairly recently, it's done nothing but make me sad. I can't see GS anymore - what I'll see is a DK doing 2k dps, /eg him and see "average ilvl 245, 30% enchants, 10% gems." And then I die a little inside.

    What do the %s mean?
    I'm assuming that's the DK's genetic make-up. 30% enchants, 10% gems, 60% cat penis.

You can choose not to display the percentage of cat penis. It's probably off my default.

30% of his gear is enchanted or 30% of is "power" (however it's measured) comes fom enchants?

I assume that means that even though he has pretty respectable ilvls of gear, only 30% of the enchantable pieces are enchanted and only 10% of the gemmable pieces are gemmed.

This. I.e the guy had looted handed to him, presumably, and couldn't even be bothered to gem or enchant it. He was just too awesome.

Dran's scenario is also possible. I had a DK tank yesterday who was wearing tank gear in a DPS spec, so EG went crazy ("wrong" gems/enchants for a DPS spec). The tool is exactly that though, a tool - have to put things in context. GS is the same way, it's just less informative.

I'm leveling a couple alliance side characters. The damn cryo-core area on bloodmyst can eat a dick. It's like some horrible blood elf cloning experiment went horribly wrong. On the plus side it gives me a chance to do something I've always wanted to do, but couldn't on horde side, slaughter blood elves.

The only one I thought was really terrible was the cryo-core one. You have a bunch of mobs that run around, they all cast fireball, and they all have frost armor.

    It's not pretty.

Well yes. To it, unenchanted and enchanted incorrectly for your role are the same thing.

It's not always *completely* true, but it makes the distinction. A DPSer's shoulder enchant giving 40 AP and 15 Crit rating compared to the PvP shoulder enchant giving 40 AP and 15 Resilience rating, for example. The PvP shoulder enchant would be considered by EG to be just as bad as having no enchant, even though it's not entirely true, it *is* still giving you 40 AP regardless.

I didn't mind the Draenei starting area. It's a little long winded, but it's otherwise pretty ok.
Just don't compare it to the Blood Elf area. That place is the best.

EG also yells at my resto shaman for using the 245 badge ring with spirit on it, even though it's better than anything else I had access to.

Basically, EG gives you a an alert at things you should be looking at for context. GS is like that too, but a score is more prone to making people lazy I think.

FFFFFF- Westfall! Give me your livers you stupid boars!

Back in Vanilla I gained an entire level trying to complete that. Killed boars for while, set it aside in frustration, came back a day later, spent another hour.

Our guild now refers to any stupidly low drop rate mission as a liver quest. "Hey Bob, you're still in Westfall?" 'Yep, grinding livers.'

On quests where the quest item will drop even if you're not on it/have completed the quest(like quests for cooking recipes) the item in question has an abnormally low drop rate in the vicinity of the quest giver.

They fixed the drop rate of turtle meat for the one quest in Tarren Mill but a lot of them still have crap drop rates in the zone the quest is given. Go to another zone and the drop rate will change. For example, buzzard wings won't drop worth a damn in the Badlands but go to Tanaris and you'll quickly have enough wings to open your own restaurant.

If you want good, fast money, once you hit level 10, go to Ratchet.

Go kill the pirates in the little camps. Don't do randoms, don't run off and do quests, just kill those pirates.

By the time you hit 16, you should have 10 or so Savory Deviate Delight recipes. 1000g each on all the servers i play on.

I got my girlfriend to start playing WoW a while back, and by the time she hit level 20, she was sitting on thousands and thousands of gold, and she still didn't know what half of her buttons did.......actually, i don't think she had half of her abilities on her hotbar.

I feel like there are probably better ways to farm money (and spend your time in general) than relying on a 0.1-0.2% drop rate.

Statistically speaking, you'd have to kill 10,000 mobs in the Barrens to get the drops you're claiming. Either you're the luckiest of outliers or you're full of blizzard poop quests.

There are some problems with EG on some specs deciding if gems/enchants are appropriate, but overall, if someone isn't at LEAST 85-90% on gems/enchants then they probably have no idea what they are doing.

If you say so. I don't know of any other way a level 16 player can have over 10k gold without high level buddies. It drops more often than you would think if you're running up and down the coast, wiping out the camps. Yeah, it gets a bit monotonous, and at level 10, it may be a little slow going initially (Baron Longshore's a dick at that level), but I've levelled at least 20 characters this way, and spending a day killing pirates for thousands of gold beats the hell out of levelling from in dungeons or questing and having 10g to show for it.

For horde, it's easy as pie, even if you don't take the shortcut from the orc/troll starting point.

For alliance, I'm guessing your best bet would be to run from stormwind south through darkshore and STV to booty bay, then ride the boat. you'll die a few times without an escort, but it's a relatively easy run.

I mean I'm not outright calling you a liar, but...

You need 63,000 xp to get from 10 to 16. Statistically, you'd need to kill 10,000 barrens mobs to get 10 recipes to drop. That would mean that, statistically speaking, you'd be averaging 6.3 experience per mob going from 10 to 16 and getting 10 recipes in the process. It doesn't really add up, especially if you're claiming for it to have happened multiple times.

That's not even mentioning the fact that if what you were claiming (to be able to make 10k by farming level 15 mobs for, let's say, 10 hours) were truly reproducible, everyone would be doing it.

Again, it's theoretically possible you're telling the truth, I just find it a little far fetched.
